IMO though while the Lancer is great car, its not a good first car... Dahil 99.9% sure ako like any newb (maskin ako din at lahat ng kilala ko) mababanga at hindi yan maiiwasan... My suggestion, buy a Vios or a similar car then use it for 2-3 years. Pag gumaling ka na by then as in driving becomes 2nd nature then go buy the car you really want! Just my opinion...

I have to agree with you on that point. I do find it a little difficult to park the Lancer EX rear-end first. The tall-ish rear end hinders vision for parking. I had back-up sensors installed to aid me.

Or maybe you want to try the Yaris or Jazz, hatchbacks are perfect first cars. Easy to park because of their flat backs. I own a Yaris and I swear I don't even look at the back anymore I only look at the sidemirrors when parking backwards...

Hmmm, I think you should go for the city or vios (which ever you prefer but I prefer city hahahaha!) then save the remaining money.

After that, when you're already good at driving and you feel you already need the looks and power of bigger cars, then go buy for it, mas madami ka na po options sa future, mas magaganda na din yung lalabas. Tapos magaling ka na din mag drive nun!

    Well, that's IMO.

*iN00b: Sir, talaga na bang A/T ang choice mo? Ayaw mo munang mahasa sa M/T? Kunsabagay, nakakangalay ang M/T sa traffic.

*Scharnhost: Ei thanks. Yep different experiences and different tastes. Classic na yang discussion na 2nd hand vs b.new first cars. Buti nga wala pang ibang sumakay kundi, habang diskusyon nito. Hahaha.

No problem sir! I also suggest that get M/T instead of A/T, kasi parang sayang naman yung effort mo sa pag driving school na M/T ang dina-drive mo. And, in the long run pag nag A/T ka hindi ka na mahihirapan mag adjust compared to A/T to M/T.

brand new vs 2nd hand cars are classic stories, each has their cons and pros, so to each his own na lang. ahahaha

based on my driving lesson.. i'm getting hang of M/T tranny.. i find it difficult at first kasi lagi ako namamatayan ng makina dahil sa clutch.. as i said maikli ang one hour na tutorial and puro bulyaw pa madidinig mo..

let's see baka mag M/T na din ako and this is contradiction on my first choice na mag A/T ako..

the idea kasi is kaya ako ng M/T lesson kasi noob talaga ako sa driving and basic kasi muna dapat.. i don't know kung may A/T na actual test sa LTo..

With the traffic in Metro Manila, having an A/T tranny makes driving a lot easier.

Kapag A/T ang gamit mong oto sa practical exam mo sa LTO, you will get a restriction na A/T lang ang pwede mong i-drive. Yun ang sabi sa akin, buti na lang manual yung dala naming oto nung nag-exam ako.

IMO, if you want to hone your skills, M/T ka muna. Kasi as they said, mas mahirap kung nasanay ka na sa A/T sabay biglang lipat ka sa M/T. Kapag sanay ka na or gamay mo na ang pagmamaneho, saka mo i-try/i-practice ang A/T. For sure sisiw na lang yun.

I've been driving for more than a year pero kahit gamay ko na ang kalsada, I still prefer M/T .

AFAIK if you will want an A/T at your driving exam, you need to bring your own A/T car. Because that it is what happened during my driving test. All of us SHOULD drive and pay the 150 pesos fee when we are going to do our driving exam. Even if we brought our own manual tranny vehicles, we MUST still use the alto of LTO at Binan Laguna. And one of those examinees ask what will he drive if he only knows how to drive an A/T car. The examiner said "May dala ka ba na kotse na A/T? Kung wala balik ka na lang pag meron na". But if we are going to drive an M/T we must use their alto even though we brought our vehicles.

    Tsk...

I agree that during traffic A/T is definitely preferable than M/T.

If you could borrow an A/T car for the test, it would be best. In my experience in our LTO center, Owner Jeep yung i-tetest mo. Pawis steering and m/t.

It is considered as an Automatic Transmission.

Well, this what I knew before, but when I got mine late last year (finally after 3 years of driving with out one hehe) they now have a suzuki alto with "LTO test drive" which test drivers are going to use. I really don't know in some areas, but here in Binan Laguna they are using that car, a replacement for the owner type jeep which they use about a year ago.

di ko lang alam kung hanggang ngayon applicable pa to, but AFAIK, it was a fact 2 years ago (advised a friend and he was able to get a driver's license without a test drive).

    1. LTO San Juan. They can take the exam for you (pero please naman, at least yung written exam e ikaw na ang kumuha, hehehe) + no practical driving test.

    2. Enroll in A1 driving school (at least 5 sessions). Let them apply your driving license. They can do it without the practical driving exam.
