If choosing between the two and FC is just about the same, go with the Accord. It's bigger and more comfortable. The 6th gen Accord has enough power on it (even in stock form) and feels good to drive. The VTi model uses a 2.0L engine (150hp) while the VTi-L model uses a 2.3L engine (157hp). I drive a VTi-L AT model and I get an average of 7km/L FC (city driving). In AT form, most will say the VTi-L model offers better FC than the VTi model. The MT models offer better FC. If you're not satisfied with its stock engine, you can always upgrade to an H22 (DOHC VTEC) which is rated at 200hp. Madali rin pormahan yung Accord as it is a bit lowered already. It can easily accomodate 17" or 18" wheels with enough rubber with no issues of rubbing.
370K budget is more than enough for a 6th gen Accord. You can even get one for less than 250k. At 370k, you can already get a 7th gen Accord (2003-2007) with the K20 engine. If you're not into midsize cars, you can choose from a big lot of compact choices - Civic ES (2001-2005), Altis, Sentra N16, Lancer Cedia, Mazda 3, Focus. Or even compact SUVs - Xtrail, CRV, Escape, Tribute.

November 9th, 2012 12:04 PM #22Someone thinks on the same vein as I do.
If you can get a 6th gen Accord VTi-L M/T (which are pretty rare considering that people who buy this usually go for the A/T), eh di ang saya saya nun. Since it has the 2.3L engine with 157hp on tap and a manual tranny, if it is in top form you'd be getting more whp than the 7th gen Accord 2.4 (available locally with A/T only). And that's saying a lot considering that our 7th gen K24 Accord is well capable of satisfying my need for speed.
With your budget, you can get very well maintained 6th gen Accord's already. Take the time and find the newest, low mileage unit you can find. A polished black Accord with 17 inch rims (further upsizing will result in a bumpy ride and so, the hassle of suspension tuning) will definitely turn heads, even among cars ten years younger.

FC - Fuel consumption. But if we compare sa Vios super layo ng difference nila.
Difference ng Accord, Civic, City, at Jazz.
Accord - More executive ang dating, larger engines, and mas mahal ang presyo brand new. Katapat nito ang Camry
Civic - Middle when it comes to size sa Accord and City. 1.6 or 1.8 engines. Katapat ang Corolla or Altis (same sila)
City - Maliit na sedan compared sa Civic. Di hamak mas matipid sa gas compared sa Civic. Kalaban ang Vios
Jazz - Hatchback siya (read: walang trunk). Same ang makina with the City
Hope this helps.

FC - fuel consumption, usually in kilometers per liter (Km/L) dito sa Pinas; different factors are considered to come up with an average value; not necessarily bigger engine eh mas malakas sa gas or smaller engine mas matipid. As what my384 stated, malaking bagay yung driving habits, condition ng kotse, at traffic conditions ng usual route mo.
Bawat car manufacturer mayrun iba-ibang class or size ng sasakyan. The bigger the car, usually the bigger the engine. See below of some examples, but most cars grow in size over a span of generations.
Sub-Compact Sedan - Toyota Vios, Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent
Sub-Compact Hatch - Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris, Suzuki Swift, Kia Rio, Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta
Compact Sedan - Honda Civic, Toyota Altis, Mitsubishi Lancer, Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte
Compact Hatch - Mazda 3, Ford Focus
Midsize Sedan - Honda Accord (5th to 7th generations), Toyota Camry, Mitsubishi Galant, Nissan Cefiro, Nissan Teana, Mazda 6, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima

98 model with an H22 engine? Pina engine swap na nga yun. Mas malakas at performance-oriented yung H22 engine compared sa stock F-series engine ng 6th gen Accords. Yung H22A ay engine ng Accord SiR at Accord Euro R. With an H22 engine, you get 200hp instead of 150hp sa stock engine. Just make sure na matino yung engine swap at walang problema.

November 13th, 2012 12:35 AM #28The H22 is a nice buy as long as the engine swap was done properly, and the new engine is reflected in the car's papers. It should give you reasonable gas mileage as long as you feather the throttle. Just don't expect it to be fuel efficient since it is a performance oriented engine. The 6th gen Accord is not actually THAT thirsty depending on the engine/transmission combo you get. If you get a 2.0 M/T Accord, it will have consumption similar to 2.0L compact sedans of today. Even better than some since most of these are matic only. IMHO, it is a much better car, if you were considering the Lynx RS.
Actually, the 6th gen Accord M/T gets, on average, 7-8km/L city. Our Revo diesel also gets 7-8km/L city. Just that it sips diesel fuel. It'll get much better in provincial roads, wherein the Revo, not as much. A trip to Subic via NLEX (ave. speed of 100-120km/h) and SCTEX (130-145km/h) gave me an average fuel consumption of 9.4km/L. Of course that was very heavy footed driving with the tach at over 4000rpm most of the time in SCTEX. At that speed ang Accord pa-relax relax lang, ang Revo diesel hingal na hingal na.Last edited by GTi; November 13th, 2012 at 12:37 AM.

My suggestion is a 2nd gen RAV4 SV 4x2
I dunno, but this design doesn't seem to age in my eyes. The 4x2 SV is cheaper in the secondhand market, comes with a more economical 1.8L VVTi and Manual transmission combo. Going rate is around high 300s to low 400s. Goodluck finding one in good condition. If you could get the facelifted one, much much better.
