2nd hand market: pwede mo itest drive at tawaran. May mga 2nd hand models na bago bago pa. Kelangan lang patience sa pagiintay and some little know how to check (if not, hire a mechanic).

Repo price vs 2nd hand used market price is di masyado nagkakalayo.

But I have earned/saved this budget thru hardwork. Maliit man, pero galing sa malinis. [emoji4]
I hope you could help me out. I'm a big guy, about 5'8" and around 80-90kgs. I wish 7 seater sana, but kung 5 lang, ok na din.
    I previously considered the following:
Sportivo (nung may extra budget pa)
    Crosswind
    Outlander
    X trail
    Frontier
    Avanza
    Rav4
    Old HRV
    CRV gen 2/3
    City
    Vios
    Vitara
    Sx4
    Pajero (subic)
    Celerio
    Mirage
    Wigo
    Eon

God bless, Tsikoteers. [emoji109]

Peak season, daming trabaho lately sa office. Cant find time to check my prospects. Maybe it's not the right time pa. Pati pagvisit dito sa forum, almost every other day ko na lang nagagawa. Well, OT pa more para dagdag budget. [emoji1]

kapag ang used car, hindi regular ang change oil or hindi napalitan agad ang coolant sa radiator. Makikita mo ba agad yoon upon inspection?
Or even more subtle, tinipid yung oil na ginamit.

In this context. Papano ka magiging kampante na well maintained ang used car? Kaya mo ba masabi na well maintained in an afternoon along with a hired mechanic? Or mas ok na sa service center ipa-check?

    ----

    More car selection questions:

    2. Pag matic, mas ok pag Toyota?
    3. Okay ba pag used na Avanza? The extra row is attractive for family trip.

Medyo mahirap talaga malaman ang condition ng sasakyan if you don't know what to expect from it. Besides having a mechanic check the car, best way for me is to try out another, preferably from someone you know takes care of their car and see if they behave similarly.

There are horror stories of Honda ATs from the 90s. But our 2005 Accord has been faring well so far. Very responsive in fact, and has never failed us at 105k kms. I believe starting with their 5ATs, which is to say around 2003 and above, Honda slushboxes are already considered reliable.

In my experience, even 90s Toyota slushboxes are already reliable. The 4AT in our 1997 Granvia still performs very well, despite being converted Japan surplus, 21 years of age, and with 177k kms mileage.

The Avanza is being used as a cab. That alone should be enough to vouch for its reliability. Best way to know all about it is to ask the cab drivers. They'd know every juicy detail about it.

Honda AT’s were very sensitive to Non-Honda ATF. And also their hydraulic power steering. Yeah pwede nga but not on Honda PS.

Yeah it sucks but it was clearly written in the manual which no one read anyway [emoji16]

Good to know that Toyota D4D is not affected with gunk build-up. This is why others have their EGR blanked.

there is no easy way to determine if oil change intervals were properly followed. many cannot even afford to do 1000 peso oil changes. even their ATF isn't changed after they have some sort of jerkiness. some sellers even use 20w50 to mask out the engine noise. some at extremes even add gear oils.

best to avoid old old vehicles. even repo cars are betters than those old and abused cars.

as for cooling or if engine overheated. there will be more vibrations and probably some smoke or oil leaks. idling probably looks bad.

even if more people buy toyotas doesn't necessarily mean they know how to maintain cars...

it's only during the selling period. buyer will replace the oil and find out the engine isn't that fresh anymore.. replace nya engine mounts... endless headaches

Parang nadiscourage ako sa lumang used ah.

if the owner has a valid reason for selling.. then don't be discouraged. some have multiple cars...

find a used car wherein the owner keeps detailed records of oil changes. like me i guess there are still people who do this, probably rare though

i got receipts of all PMS, in one brown envelope for every car

Not necessarily. Though it is always wise to set aside an amount for repairs or maintenance. But then this is also true for newer, repossessed vehicles.

The obvious benefit of getting an older vehicle is that there is no loan. Do you have 101% sure stable income to be used to pay for the car loan? Take note that you may still have to spend for repairs and maintenance (even if it may possibly be less, being a newer model) with a repossessed vehicle.

Both ways there are risks involved. Weigh them out carefully.

GUYS I need your expert opinion.

If you would chose and buy a car would you choose Honda City (2009-2012 model) or Hyundai Accent (2011-2014 model) or your suggestion? budget is around 300K and why?

    Thank you in advance!
