Best 2nd hand Subcompact Car from 2010

A City/Jazz or Vios would be the most common choice. However, if you can find yourself a used compact (Civic or Altis or Lancer) for around the same price, go for it. Fuel consumption is not that far between compacts and subcompacts but you get more space and better features with a compact.

Some compacts of that year are still classified under small in LTO's specs. The Civic FD is one of the compact cars tagged as small under LTO (gross vehicle weight below 1600kg).

I think you get what you get from a bigger engine. However be aware of trade offs between FC and power too. Question is, what else?

I think you get what you get from a bigger engine. However be aware of trade offs between FC and power too. Question is, what else?

First is the size. You cannot modify a small car to be more spacious. Next one will be the construction of the platform for which a bigger car is more stable on the road.

Fuel consumption might be a bit higher but it's not far off. It's like comparing 8-9 km/L for a Civic FD 1.8L and 9-10 km/L for a City 1.5L on city driving routes. However, you get a quicker and more spacious car in a Civic compared to a City.

The Civic and Altis are both compact cars like the Lancer, Mazda3, Focus, and Elantra. Honda and Toyota have different approaches with their marketing of the Altis and Civic. The Civic is more oriented sportiness and handling while the Altis is more oriented towards ride comfort.

If you want specific first-hand information, send jut703 a PM and ask him the finer details of the Civic FD as opposed to a 10th gen Altis.

We have a 2011 ASX GLS SE 4x4 in the family, bought in 2014 for 600k. 400k+ seems reasonable.

My FC for provincial driving is 10-11 km/L.

Drives nicely for a crossover, good power, looks nice enough, unresponsive head unit, cramped space, ground clearance better than a sedan but no match for a pickup or true SUV, fuel efficiency pretty decent for a 2.0 but high compared to 1.5-1.6L sedans.

Almost considered getting the facelifed 2017 model before but decided on the Civic instead.
