I bought a Crosswind XUV AT last August 2004 from Isuzu Pasig and even though I own one, I won't recommend it to you. Why? Because many problems showed up in my car in just two months. The major ones are 1)the car stalled because of a loose bolt in the shift stick area, 2) unlevel height (right side higher than the left side because of a leaf spring problem) and 3) premature rust developed on the rear door, rear seats and on metal plates supporting the back bumper. Just check out the old thread I started regarding the problems I encountered. There were also a number of minor problems such as scratches inside the car, unaligned front bumper, paint of fender peeling off, screws of stepboard not tigthened fully, easily deformed plastic holder of side doors and deformed rubber lining of rear door. My conclusion? Very poor quality control and fit and finish. Yung binenta sa akin ay hindi pulido ang pagkakagawa. I just hope this is not representative of the way Isuzu assembles their vehicles.
Fortunately, I haven't exeperienced any engine problems so far. Matipid sa diesel pero matagtag, sulit pag marami kayo, kasya 10 tao. Malaki kaha kaya marami bagahe pede ilagay, mataas ang height clearance kaya pede ilaban sa baha at maganda porma. As for the other advantages, the others already pointed those out.
If you really want an XUV, I suggest the following so you could avoid what happened to me.
-bring a mechanic/painter to check out the car if what you want is on display,
-it's better and cheaper to spend a few thousand pesos now on a good mechanic than get a problematic car that is poorly built
-let the mechanic/painter check out every corner of the car
-pasukat mo ang pagkakalevel ng body para sigurado
-if you know someone from the dealer, the better, so he'll give you a good stock (may predelivery report yang mga kotse pagdating sa dealer mula sa planta, lahat ng minor na tama nakalagay dun, syempre, hindi nila ipapakita yun.)
-check out the rear door, look at the spare tire mount area, the finish of that metal plate is not good, magaspang, kaya siguro kinalawang agad yung sa akin.
-check out the rear door, look at the lock mechanism, may square hole doon na nagla-latch sa lock.
-if you're a first time owner, discuss the details of the warranty. It is so difficult to get a replacement unit if there are major problems in your car. It is also expensive to hire a trial lawyer to handle the case.
The XUV is already 1M, the price is so near with the other SUVs out there such as the Everest and diesel Sorento, with more safety features than the XUV and I believe probably better built and designed than the XUV because they are international models. The Toyota Revo is cheaper and the new Kijang Innova model will be out in February. My unsolicited advice is do a comprehensive comparison before you buy. Don't rush it as I did. Because of my experience with my car, personally, I won't recommend the Crosswind XUV. Is Crosswind XUV a good buy for me? As of now "No." Sulit naman kaya para sa akin after several years? (after Isuzu fixes the problems in my car) Only time will tell.
