cars have no feelings. wag kang ma-awa sa kanila.
buy brand new if you can afford it. buying used for practicing, especially a cheap one, may just be inviting more headaches because of defects brought about by age, etc.
it is not easy to learn how to drive, if one has to encounter defects in the vehicle.
besides, once you learn how to drive, re-selling that learning vehicle will be just another potential problem, especially if there is garage space for only one.
    my opinion.

I have the city 1.5e cvt. Not so much features compared to the vios 1.5g. Siguro, lamang ang city in terms of performance and fuel economy.

(via Bank Car loan)
Misis kopo ang gagamit. (magaaral palang sya magdrive paguwi nya sa Pinas)

    1. Hyundau Accent - DSL ba ang dapat kong bilin kasi matipid daw?
    2. Mitsu Mirage G4 GLS - Matipid din daw sa Gas kc 1.2?
    3. Vios - kasi matipid din daw sa Gas kc 1.3? and maporma?
    4. Kia Rio - medyo high-tech?

Kung pang long term usefulness and its maintenance eh hanap mo pinakamura (cheaper), sa isang sasakyan. Then go buy a Toyota Vios. Parts is rampant whether replacement or original (OEM). Although resale value is not a plus.

*aweng - Sa casa yung PMS noong warranty period pa. After that, doon na sa suki kong shop.

Test drive mo muna both cars to know how each one behaves. Get the one that feels at home in your hands.

*egan sad to say hindi ako marunong magdrive. Tricycle lang alam ko
kahit lumaki kaming may car hindi ako pinagamit ng tatay ko kasi baka daw kung ano mangyari samin since nasa abroad sya that time.. hehe

    update kolang..

Honda City E CVT- Sobrang haba pala nya.

A Jazz 1.5V would be a good choice at around 800k.

My vote goes to mazda 2, swabeng swabe!

I-test drive mo pala lahat before you decide.

I am a vios owner. I am also not against those people who say "pang taxi" ek ek. Anyway, if you're a 1st time car buyer, what are your preferences ba?

    Safety?
    Parts/Maintenance?
    Cost?
    Looks?
Impression?

We had a pearl white 2.0V Altis before. Got hailed once when I dropped my sister off in front of the taxi queue.

You see, taxi riders usually can't tell the difference between pearl white and Boysen white, or between a base 1.6E and a TOTL 2.0V. Oh well. [emoji23]

Most hotel taxi service nowadays use the current generation Altis and Camry either in white or gray or black color, except for the bigger hotel brands which opt for Bimmers and Mercs.

First time i drove a vios, inatrasan ako ng patrol, driver was a senior and hard of hearing, plus the horn of the car i was driving sounds like fart...btw it was my brother in law's vios...so first mod he did was change the horns...the vios suspension is too soft, youll feel the rocking motion in turns and on humps, for a point A-B car, its good enough for a family whos just starting.

kinawayan ka? e, 'di isakay mo! kumita ka pa...
    heh heh.
    joke.

so what if your car looks like a taxi? it ain't fatal. and it will still get you where you want to go.
and when it comes to maintenance, you won't have a hard time, because it is a very popular model.

just last week, nagpagaqwa ako ng innova sa banawe. katabi ko ay isang not-so-popular model sasakyan.. tagal na naka-tengga, nauna pako matapos kahit na nandiyan na't nakabaklas yung sa kanya nung dumating ako...
sabi ng mekaniko, naghahanap pa raw ng piyesa...

I drove a 96 White Corolla for more than half of my life. I was flagged down only once. I guess my car's super black tint distinguished it from taxis. It never bothered me having a taxi model car. What's important is it's a reliable car.

    I'd go for the Vios.

^Same with my white gen 9.5 Altis. I was flagged down once (when I had my roof carrier cross bar) but it never caused me sleepless nights. Also had a B13 Sentra and same case.

For some reason, i had an inkling that the "Taxi" thing would pop up somewhere along this thread. To each his own though.
