Which one is the most comfortable?

Sanay si misis sa CUV. Nag-test drive kami ng Jetta, matagtag daw sa 2nd row The only one that can beat Jetta in ride comfort, in its segment, according to reviews is the Civic.

    We are looking for...
    1. Comfort - sound isolation, ride smoothness. Daily Edsa route.
    2. Safety - side airbags is a must.
    3. Reliability

    Not looking for...
    1. Sporty ride
    2. Infotainment

    Current choices:
    1. Jetta 2.0 TDI Highline -
+I really like the beige interior and sunroof.
    +Every 15K PMS
+Readily available, last minute buy before the excise tax.
    -Reliability unknown

    2. Honda City VX+
    +Every 10K PMS
+High reliability based on what I read (hundred pages) in this forum
-Can't find any dealer that readily has this (This version has the side airbags). The plant can't even commit on a unit. Only VX is available.
    -Is the CVT rumble annoying?

    3. Honda Civic 1.8E
+Same as City, every 10km PMS & high reliability
    -No side airbags though.

    4. Altis 1.6V
    -Every 5K PMS, seriously?

the cvt is quiet. it does whine when pushed. no rumble was noticed with the altis or the city. nobody uses the term "rumble" for the cvt..

altis casa nightmares? the good stories outnumber the bad ones by 1000:1

the city doesn't have that good thick door insulation. rinig ang outside. the altis and civic will probably be quieter inside.

Euro-designed cars tend to have firmer suspensions compared to Asian-designed cars. The Jetta does ride a bit firm but it is not "matagtag" unless you are so used to Asian compacts or CUVs. The Fiesta and Focus are both designed in Europe and they do ride a bit firm on the rear. The Fiesta Ecoboost feels a bit stiffer compared to the Jetta. The firm suspension is handy if the driver would like to be a bit aggressive on the road.

It is a choice between the Jetta and Civic on your list above. I would pick the City last among the list. As good a subcompact the City can be but the three compacts in the list are better choices. Not to mention, it is a bore to drive.

The Altis 1.6V is a good compact but the Civic 1.8E is much better car car for the same price. The Civic 1.8E offers a good package in a compact as it has decent space, decent performance, reliable engine, good aftermarket support, and good looks.

The Jetta may look boring but is the quickest among the choices. It is also the cheapest on fuel (turbo diesel has its advantages). The interior space is much like the Civic and Altis and insulation is topnotch. The built is worth more than its asking price. Our family has both the Civic RS and Jetta 1.6L TDI DSG Highline. The Civic RS may be quicker but the Jetta is a more comfortable drive on the highway. Maintenance comes about the same on a yearly basis between the Civic and Jetta.

Comfort? Safety? Reliability... Sounds like the Altis is your vehicle.

Every 5K PMs and choosing a good casa shouldn't be a problem... Dami naman ibang Toyota casa na pwede pagpilian. If ayaw nyo na sa 5K interval, you can always choose to have it done outside. It's not as if working on the Corolla is rocket science. Every talyer has probably worked on one.

Personally, I'd prefer the Civic though hehe.

    Thanks for the inputs!

    With ride comfort in mind:
    1st - Jetta 2.0 TDI Highline
    2nd - Civic 1.8E
    3rd - Altis 1.6V

Just visited Honda Pasig. They will be releasing stagnant reservations on the 26th; so there will be available units for grab. I guess that will be the same for other dealerships. This is the best chance for those who want to buy this year; If your Bank can process fast enough.

are these open to cash buyers?
    or, "strictly installment buyers" only?

I think both, since we are financing through bank.

The SA contacted us today, may Civic 1.8E na available. Too bad we already bought a Jetta just hours ago.
