Mga Papi. Tanong lang gaano nagtatagal yung mga battery nyo if nanonood kayo ng dvd or sound tripping kapag nakaoff yung makina. Magastos kase sa gas kung naka-on sya habang nanonood at naghihintay. Meron ba modification na nilalagay para mas maging efficient at di madischarge agad battery? TIA

may reserve level ang every battery eh. as far as i can remember, a 1SM battery has a reserve of around 8-10 minutes lang ata. after nun, it needs to be charged by the alternator or else, kakapusin ka sa power on your next start.

so the proper answer to this question is: it depends on the battery condition kung luma na or bago, and depende sa condition ng alternator mo.

Or better yet upgrade your battery to 2SM for longer entertainment time...but be sure na papalakihan mo din battery bay mo as it would not fit if you are switching from 1SM.

sa bahay na lang bro... mahirap din nyan baka ma taken at gunpoint ka pa.... seriously, i really do not recommend watching movies/listening to CDs while the engine is off. kung radio pa siguro, pwede-pwede pa dahil mahina ang consumption nyan.

Want to listen with your engine off? Get a deep cycle battery like Optima...

think of it this way, yung matitipid mo sa gas, mapupunta pag pagpalit ng battery, so either way gagastos ka pa rin.

--how much usually would the price difference of Optima and other batteries (like Outlast)? and when you say deep cycle, how long will the battery's charge last comparatively?

--Also, if you change to a bigger battery (like 2SM from 1SM), would the alternator be able to sufficiently/properly charge the bigger battery?

If I can remember it correctly, I've done this for more or less 45 mins. (CD playing/radio. Wala nman naging problema sa battery (less than a year old). I always turn my engine off while parked waiting, listening to the radio or using the CD player. OT:Excessive idling IS bad for your engine.

If the battery is rated 40AH and your load is 5 amperes, you will have an 8hours play time before the battery is totally discharged. To be safe, you can have a playtime of 4 hours to reserve enough AH to start the engine. Remaining available Ampere-Hour rating of the battery decreases as it becomes older.
Battery is considered totally discharged if the terminal voltage falls down to 10.5 Volts.

Optima's go for 10K and up more or less, a 1SM Outlast should go for around 3K more or less.

Good Read about batteries (Deep Cycle and Normal Lead-Acid car batteries

    http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question219.htm

Basically the biggest difference is that a Deep Cycle Battery is designed to withstand several hundred Discharge/Recharge Cycles that a Normal Lead-Acid can't do.

I wouldn't recommend listening to the radio with your engine off using a normal battery, it would be a hassle not being able to start your car even tho you have jumper cables. Well if your battery is still under warranty you could always call up motolite and have them deliver a warranty replacement or a new battery

for additional information, the cost of a 1SM battery ranges from 2200-2800, depending on the brand and variant. saw it sa minerva tire gallery last weekend.

would installing a capacitor for your sound system have an effect on running your sounds while the engine is off? I currently have a 1-farad installed and I can run my sounds at around an hour to one hour and a half. thanks. I;m just a newbie here. =)

IMO its doesn't, your sound system will still draw current from your batteries.

Bro, Ni-Cad ba yung Optima? Mas matibay ang Ni-Cad kaysa Lead Acid.

Say you want to use your car setup like a open trunk party or picnic while engine is off.. can you use a portable 12V battery charger and charge your battery? of course the portable charger need 220V supply. Will it work? it wont damage any electrical component of the car? TIA
