The lens is quite delicate to be cleaned with just anything and by just anyone. Even the CD cleaner (with the brushes underneath) can even scratch it further. It's obviously better to pay good money to a reputable service center than a new head unit or changer. ;)
If I were you, I'll take the old lady (wife) for a dinner, put her most favorite music on the CD player and drive on rough road, let the player skip, hang and do what ever it want to do until she's so pissed off about your CD player that she'll tell you that it's time to get a new one. By the way, make sure that your recorder is on, so for future argument about you buying the most expensive CD/MP3/WMA player, you have a compeling evidence that she ordered you to procure one. na-aadjust ang lens.. had mine repaired at TRONIX, unfortunately it lasted for only 3 months, then i tried adjusting it myself pero sandali lang din nagloloko na.
Old moddel na yung P series (sakit talaga ito ng mga yan), same as what i had... imo it was better if i had just replaced the unit with a newer model or switch to a cd in dash head-unit earlier than having it repaired, could had saved me money and anxiety...
