December 22nd, 2017 10:34 AM #14Im not familiar with current HUs however when I tried searching for a 2din Android, some specs say that theirs is "compatible" with steering wheel remote. However if the unit is available locally you can simply test it before installation.

Just choose the HU you like that has steering wheel remote integration. Many HUs can integrate with popular vehicle brands and models. If none, you can explore aftermarket integration modules.
I have a Kenwood DDX8034BT HU which is incompatible with my 2015 Innova steering wheel control. For that, I use a iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW universal steering wheel integration module.
The Maestro can be programmed using an online tool for short-press and long press action, doubling the functions available from the steering wheel buttons. In my case, the buttons operate as such:
Legend: Button Name: Short Press action | Long Press action
Volume Up: Volume Up | (none)
Volume Down: Volume Down | Mute Audio
Next Track: Next Track | Answer Bluetooth Call
Previous Track: Previous Track | End Bluetooth Call
Mode: Play/Pause | Source Select
So even with just 5 steering wheel buttons, I was able to assign 9 (and potentially up to 10) actions.

Kaya nga, you look for the HU you want and check kung compatible sa steering wheel remote mo.... first paragraph ng reply ko ;)
The rest are optional.

It's been 3 or 4 years na and ok pa din maski nag palit na ako ng battery

Depende. Kung pinouts lang hindi match, yes. But kung yung protocol hindi matched, you'll need the integration kit.
Example:
Toyota's steering control buttons use a resistor matrix. Pressing one button produces a different resistance which the HU decodes. It has three wires, signal 1, 2 and Gnd.
My Kenwood HU uses just one wire for steering remote input and it expects digital pulses.
There's no way the two systems will work together without the Maestro.

Choice I would have made as well.
