Android OS HU is like a Android tablet or phone. You can install any apps for Android, waze, Spotify, yahoo mail, games, mp3 player, etc. You can even DL a dashcam apps and connect a camera into the HU and it will record it via an external storage. It can even have a voice command real cool, and can mirror a phone. Plug in a USB phone or stick it can be your hotspot, plug in an obd2 port for your car and DL a obd2 apps it can tell your car speed, fuel, fc consumption, fault codes, etc.
Touch screen response is fast, just like a cellphone.
Aside from the 4 stock speakers, may provision for an additional external speaker (front and back) output pa at subwoofer.
Cons, siguro price nya Growl is selling it at a premium 40k ata, but it is selling at HK * 300-500 USD depends on the car or model of the unit

Another alternative is download an app called AutoMate, basically it copies the Android Auto UI on your existing phone/tablet. Pwede i-mirror na lang sa HU screen, I haven't tried this app yet on long drives, research pa kung almost same nga ito sa Android Auto enabled HUs like Pioneer/Kenwood.

January 29th, 2016 11:45 AM #5Wow, I really am out of the loop regarding head units.
maganda pala talaga yun mga android powered units, as described above. But 40K is same price as Pioneer branded HU's already. dang.

January 29th, 2016 06:34 PM #9Go to aliexpress. Search for android HU (insert car name). Super dami diyan. Bought my LC200 HU there. Go for at least android 4.4.x and get the ones with quadcore and 1024x600 screen resolutions. Most are from $300-400 excluding shipping and taxes.
It seems most of them have the same modified car version of android (includes amplifier settings, steering wheel button mapping settings, and other car related features). You can tell by looking at the skin that the homescreen UI uses. The example above is the same flavor as the one I have. This is a tried and tested version of android.Last edited by EQAddict; January 29th, 2016 at 06:38 PM.
