The other week, my dad's BMW 318i experienced irregular idling. It was diagnosed that the ignition coil pack needs to be replaced. Parts alone was P12,000.

My brother should have heeded my advise of selling the car months ago.

How expensive is it to maintain a BMW ? Lets say BMW's year 00 ~ present.

When you hear the initials " BMW " the usual thing that pops out from your mind is of course first " porma " then usually " high/expensive maintenance " comes in second or in third.

So how expensive really is EXPENSIVE ? Is it comparable to lets say a camry or an accord ?

    - please give an estimate for the ff ...

    regular pms : xxxxxx php
major pms ( requires you to replace a lot of parts ) : xxxxxx php

nowadays its easier and cheaper to maintain a bimmer lalo na kung e30 and e36 era for the 3-series. Yung nga lang sa dami ng nasisira magastos pa din. For some a/c and electrical parts madali naman irepair and/or go to your friendly surplasan. Brake pads and belts halos same na din with honda city ang price.

Funny how some of you guys complain about the maintenance cost of your cars even to those who can really afford not just those whoz cars were bought by rich daddy and mommy. If you have a problem about the cost don't buy one! Parang tsiks yang mga kotse natin na pag gusto mo ng seksi at dead hot gorgeuos kailangan mong imaintain or else iiwanan ka! so don't complain and just shell out your cash or daddy/mommy's cash or just drive a vios.

It might seem we are complaining over nothing but sometimes we don't drive expensive cars yet we are stuck with a very expensive repair bill. We drive ordinary cars made by Ford, Mazda, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Isuzu, Suzuki, Hyundai, Kai, etc. Yet we are charged repair bills that list expensive replacement parts.

tapos later-on mag cocomplain about sa gas consumption or kung pwedeng painumin ng regular and makinang dinisenyo para sa premium...we can go on and on. Sabi nga nila bat dinalang lahat ng automanufacturer mag merge tapos isang brand lang ng sasakyan at isang trim lang at lahat ay pwede mong gawin sa sasakyan na yun at tawaging Multi-Purpose Vehicle (sarao anyone?) tapos running in water only (from poso negro or from mineral water) that would be the perfect car pero siguradong magcocomplain parin tayo na gusto natin indestructable na. Wag naman sana ganuon kabayan. kaya umiikot ang mundo natin dahil life is unfair and if everything is fair then life is pointless diba? In the end kahit anong gawin mo sa auto mo casa man o hindi pag nasira at kailangan mong gumastos wag kang magcocomplain dahil namamahalan ka bastat pagawa mo nalang.

Don't generalize. If you know where to have it fixed, it won't cost that much. Aircon of ours broke down, did not even cost 20k to fix. If you know where to go and where to get parts instead of bringing it to stealerships, you won't be complaining about 80k aircon repairs.
