An X5 face with a sedan body (complete with sedan-like trunk opening) plopped on stilts, has failed to impress me. Definitely a paradigm shift for those used to the conception of an SUV or even a CUV as having a rugged looking fascia with a rear full opening hatch.
Btw, BMW Phils has run an ad for this one in the local newspaper already. They call it a coupe, which really baffled me.

It's a "coupe" because a "coupe" is classified by the streamlined shape of the vehicle's roof.
That's why the four-door CLS is sold by Mercedes as a "coupe" and why BMW's M3 racecar is now having problems qualifying for the class BMW built it for, because the sanctioning body classifies it as a two-door sedan (which, technically, it is) instead of a coupe like the 911s it was built to race against.
Strange, but true.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Initially, I was unsure about its looks too... until Kevin Limjoco sent us some pictures while they were testing it in the US... pictures in here:

More pictures and review in the July issue of C! magazine.
i saw a white one in greenhills last saturday... looks like an Actyon too to me.
honestly i kind of fell out of love with it. when i first saw it in the flesh i was stunned :inlove:
then my suki BMW salesman invited me to look at it and the new M3, and i could kind of see how pointless it was. it had less interior space than an X5 (yes, it seats only 4), the coupe orientation made cargo carrying capacity extremely limited, and it was too heavy to be a true sport vehicle. it's almost like it was trying to be three or four different cars, and executed none of it well.
all that for about $20k more than a base X5. kind of silly :thumbdwn:
Got to drive an X6 recently and wow, I can say that one of the best cars I've driven! I had reservations at first cuz parang weird itsura nya sa pictures but I was amazed how it handled. Steering is not stiff at all which I love, power delivery very smooth, turning radius very tight for a big car, and the seats are THE most comfortable I've sat on!
Have been driving an X6 for almost a year now. handles like any other 4X4 SUV, pero great with slippery conditions with DSC and DTC, lalo sa snow. the computer does everything except the driving. great (but not free) GPS navigation -needs some UI improvement, though. Used to have a 2010 montero in pinas -less computer gadgetry and "yabang" feeling -actually drives like the X6. pati yung dashboard console color, orange din ang backlight. just buy a montero and save a lotBTW, hirap ihanap ng parking kasi ang lapad.
