Avanza Undercoating

hi to all!

I called my SA and inquired about the free rustproofing and undercoat. Accdg to him yung free undercoat sa wheel wells lang yon. Free rustproofing eh full rustproofing daw yon from the factory.

When I asked him if kailangan pa ipa-full-undercoat si Vanzie ang sabi niya not necessary dahil naka "5-step-dip rustproof" naman yon from the factory.

based on what my SA said lumalabas na full rustproof si Vanzy natin from the factory pa pero bakit sinasabi pa sa casa na freeby siya? another gimik?

as prez said extra protection if you have an undercoat esp pag natamaan ng bato....

but keep in mind what woohoo said....overtime yung undercoat material gets brittle and cracks so possible siyang pasukan ng water and mag cause ng rust dun sa exposed na metal

based on my reading may pros and cons ang undercoating....bottomline, kailangan talaga na regular ang checkup/visual inspection natin sa baby vanzy para maiwasan lumala ang problem. Undercoating is one way to protect ....but it may also cause rusting pag hindi sinisilip regularly.

I agree to woohoo..once ngkaroon ng crack at nasingitan ng tubig mas prone sa rust sya kasi hindi bsta agad matutuyo ang tubig na sumingit. Anyway, we should check regularly na lang po siguro.

Oh well, sakin next year pa ko magpapa undercoat, before rainy season....di naman siguro ganon ka bilis mag expire ang undercoat natin, matagal yan bago mag crack or mag fade not unless tamaan ng bato IMO. Di naman naaarawan yan and bihira ako lumusong sa baha kasi alam ko harmfull yan sa car, actually ako yung isa sa mga nag-uuturn pag baha kahit pa mataas ang car ko. Pero constant inspection parin.

Actually ang mga modelo ngayon does not necessarily need ang rustproofing kasi maayos ang prep from the factory un body dip (step process) tapos me hot wax and other coatings sa mga dulo and seams where water and rust may build-up. Mapasin nyo un pag angat nyo ng mga carpet parang tuyong candle wax. So technically good for 2 or 3 years under normal use na rust free ang mga vanzy natin unless ang area mo is malapit sa dagat.

Di masama mag pa undercoat as an added touch to preserve our Avanzas. Actually ang avanza ko di ko pa napaundercoat pero i told my wife na lagi pa bomba ng maayos ang ilalim lalo sa mga singit ng wheelwells para maalis ang buhangin at ibang road dirt na pagmumulan ng kalawang. In that way maalagaan mo ang oto mo kahit walang undercoat. Sa mga magpaundercoat naman 3m is the way to go kasi di sya basta naging brittle. Ang contrast kasi pag gasolina ang ginamit mabilis matuyo pero matigas compared pag kerosene ang pampalabnaw sa kanya it remains flexible for a longer time. Tama un post sa earlier na pag magpaundercoat ka make sure early morning kasi pag sa mga gas station i underbody wash muna then air dry (at compressed air) then bago spray ang undercoating. Ok din kung papagawa mo sa mga reputable shops at least me warranty at annual checkup like ziebart or kung saan.

Sa sigma ko pag labas nya after body repair and paint 3 years ago, nag DIY ako mag rustproof underbody (wheelwells at underpinnings) as well as interior, matrabaho lang haha pero enjoy. THough pag brush nga lang me mga hindi ka maabot compared to spray gun application.

Treated na against rust yung primer paint ng under chasis ng avanza natin it will last, unless lagi kang dumadaan sa rough roads and floods. pwede kasi magkaroon ng paint chips and cracks na pwede pagsimulan ng rust. Dun papasok yun undercoating. Any application pwede basta meron kasi pwede ulit mag chip ung undercoat pagdumadaan sa rough roads and floods. Kaya nga dapat icheck yung ilalaim pag-galing ka ng out of town na may rough roads na dinaanan.
Wag din kalimutan yung brakes dpat ipa-check up kasi naiipon yung dust ng brake pads sa loob ng hub, na pwede mag cause ng brake slip
