Is it true that we must use sandblast to remove rust? San meron nito? Yng car kasi ng dad ko puro rust na and needs body repair.

Sandblasting will take care of superficial rust, but for holes, kailangan nang mag-cut and patch.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

IMHO, mas maganda kaso cons outnumber the pros (formost; financially not feasible). btw, we do sandblasting and gritblasting.

i've read many restoration articles na sandblasting ginamit nila to remove the rust. Yung mustang namin grabe na ang rust ng mga parts (master cylinder etc). Pero sa body niya hindi naman. Pag dinala ko ba sa restoration shop ito (like for example red65stang's shop), isa-sandblast din nila? I just want to get rid of the rust para mas nakakagana magkalikot under the hood hehehe.

By the way, magkano ba ito estimate?

di pa namin nakakaencounter ng pa-sandblast ng isang kotse. pag nalaman mo price e baka matulala ka. we sandblast/gritblast storage tanks and air pressure coming out is very strong. baka lumubog yung malambot na portion. baka ang nasa isip mo is yung mga binebentan pangsandblast sa mga hardware. di ko pa sya natry pero balak ko subukan. unfortunately, mukhang puro bibigay kagad yung mga binebenta. kung ako sayo, yung suggestion ni kimpoy ang gawin mo. mano mano lalo na dun sa mga singit na portion tapos pag bare metal na, primer kagad. hth.

walang gumagawa ng sandblasting for automotive sa pinas. mga industrial contractors lang ang alam kong gumagawa niyan for industrial uses.

yung mga car restorers sa U.S. eh soda-blasting (they call it soda bath) ang ginagawa while the car is in a rotisserie. this is the right way of restoring a vintage car.

I think they use Turko rust converter. Black tar on a bottle if I'm not mistaken.

For me the best Rust Remover is Armor Metal Rescue Rust Remover Bath.
Because of 3 reasons, please see below.

    1. CLEAN - No scrubbing, dipping, brushing or other agitation.
    2. SAFE - No Acids, No Caustics, No Health Risk, Non Toxic and SAFE on SKIN
    3. EASY - Soak the part(s) in a plastic container from 10 minutes to 24 hours depending upon the severity of the rust, type of metal temperature. Metal Rescue de-rusted parts are available for immediate use after removing from liquid.

ADVANTAGE from existing Rust remover in the market : Re-Usable, meaning you can use it again & again.

For more info please call me * 0932-427-5668 or email me at bruzz15*yahoo.com
    Tel. No 02-552-1989

baka mas madaling makahanap ng rust converter sa hardware store rather than sa ace or concorde or handyman. they convert the rust (iron oxide) into iron phosphate using phosphoric acid. very useful. i use it myself: sandpaper and/or steel brush first, to remove as much rust as you can, then "paint" on the "Turco" to remove (actually to convert) the remaining rust and convert the exposed iron to iron phosphate. the iron phosphate covers and protects the underlying iron from rusting. then primer paint.
sandblasting thin sheet automotive metal is not adviseable, as the pressure and heat generated by the stream of "sand" can distort
the metal or drill holes thru them. hey, if the rust is that heavy, better to replace it or cut and patch.
