    Hi guys,

Napansin ko may parang faded pero hindi naman talagang faded parang may whitish part pero pag tinignan parang pwede pang matangal. Oxidation ba tawag dito? Paano po matatangal ito? Nabasa ko cleaner wax daw... Ano yung recommended brand nyo, ok ba ang turtle wax cleaner wax? Another option ko t-cut color fast of carplan ang sabi kasi sa product nila "Cleans, restores and shines car paintwork in one easy application. The special blend of polymers, pigmented resin and wax effortlessly removes surface oxidation, blemishes and minor scratches.
T-Cut Color Fast is suitable for all car paint finishes including metallic and pearlescent."
. As much as possible yung hindi matapang sa paint and clearcoat sana.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you post some pics sir? Para pag may napadaang "guru" ay ma-identify kung oxidation talaga kasi I want to know for myself din kung ano itsura ng oxidation ng paint.

Anyways sir, if in case it really is a paint oxidation, may I suggest Mother's California Gold Pre-Wax Cleaner. Though I haven't tried it yet cause I haven't bought one, detailing experts here in tsikot recommend the Mother's brand itself to me.

This is the foundation of the Ultimate Wax SystemŪ, preparing your paint for Sealer & Glaze and Pure Carnauba Wax. Pre-Wax Cleaner removes oxidized paint, old wax buildup and other contaminants, cleaning and shining your paint. This mild polish smoothes the edges of larger imperfections and removes small scratches. Your paint’s appearance is dependent on a good polishing — MothersŪ Pre-Wax Cleaner should be used at least once or twice a year.
    http://www.mothers.com/02_products/07100.html

Pero suggest ko na rin po na if you want to protect your paint na talaga, go for the Step 1,2,3 of Mothers, which is the Sealer & Glaze (step 2), and the Pure Carnauba Wax (step 3) as stated above.

    Goodluck on your car sir

Sige po try ko makapagpost ng pic. Paano ba ang gamit nito kasi ang ginagawa ko lang wash-glaze-wax. So magiging wash-cleaner-glaze-wax? Hindi na ba kailangan iwash ulit after mag cleaner. Nakakainis kasi pag naarawan ang panget tignan Yung step1-2-3 hmmm medyo pricey ata yung 900+ bawat isa kulang kulang 3k ouch

*mau: i would agree with chickselog with regards to the step 1 2 and 3's pricing, it won't cost you 3k to get all 3 of them and they are very much worth it.

Step 1 is basically a cleaner wax that you don't have to use every month, you only use step 1 when you notice your paint oxidize a bit and dull a bit, i use step one about 3 times a year on a car, i make it a point that every 4 months i use step 1, and sometimes i even pass on this step especially if you maintain your monthly waxing regimen, as for your problem about light paint i think its oxidation related problem, either that or you've had an overheat where the steam sort of cooked thru the paint, thats my project today BTW, i think step one would definitely improve its shine and with this one i again agree with chickselog that a picture would prove to be very helpful in determining what proper steps should be undertaken to improve the paints condition.

Step 2 is basically like a make up for paint, it masks all those scratches that you got in your paint, now if the whitish part you described has an uneven surface using step 2 might improve its shine even more since it seals and hides these defects. Also if the whitish part is uneven or was not removed by step 1, chances are you might want to use certain megs polish just to bring its color and shine back to life but most of the time step 1 and 2 can already improve oxidized paints conditions. If a single application of step 1 doesnt do that much try another application this time try to work the cleaner more thoroughly by applying a little more pressure, use microfiber cloth to avoid scratching and swirling

As for Step 3 try not to get the liquid version, although the liquid version is really a lot more easier to apply and easier to spread and cheaper, i would personally stick with the paste wax, it has a slightly noticeable deeper gloss and it lasts a little longer, also with paste wax you might think its expensive, but based on personal experience i can do about 2 bottles worth of cars with a can of the step 3 paste version in the end eventually saving you more i hope this helps

As for T-cut, i tried using it and yeah it does mask and help deepen the color of the paint, but after one wash *tadaan* its back to square one you're back to a dull paint, i would rather invest my money on a megs cleaner wax or a moms cleaner wax than these pigmented wax/polishes

As for frequency in applying the 3 step i apply step 1 every 4 months, just a little to remove dull paints, step 2 on the whole car, again just enough to cover swirls every 2 months and step 3 every month.

the 900 peso bottles are most probably from the reflections line and FX line, Reflections line is a 2 step process and both cost 900+ each advance wax and topcaot these are really nice on dark colored cars, if you are pressed for time and need a nearly instant fix, you could also try Moms FX its a one step product that delivers nice results its like step 1 2 and 3 performing just a little less, it can also clean your paint but since its cleaners are a bit mild im not sure if it can solve you paint problem, it can also mask hairline scratches and micro scratches, it has a nice durability although its shine is definitely more on reflective not wet look.

*chickselog: i really commend you for your fast reply and enthusiasm at helping other people, keep it up!

i can't see it too clearly but if its what i think it is i mean if the white part is not your reflection then try using step 1, chances are it will help improve the shine and bring back its luster

you could also try buying a 3m IHG sachet from ace hardware, costs around 40 pesos i think and try it on, try to use it on the affected part first to check if it helps, 3m ihg will also help improve the shine and luster, its like moms step 2 only a real PITA to remove, i really had a hard time buffing it off, no joke in applying it in small squares and buffing it out immediately, i won't even dare wait to let it dry

Question po, recommended din po ba or okay lang po ba ang gamitin ko ang step 1 after claying? Mainly for maintenance of the paint lang po as well as complete protection na rin dahil first time ko pa lang po gagawin mag clay sa vios namin..I was wondering kung safe ito sa paint kasi baka it's too harsh or something..

*chickselog: Sorry for the late reply, this is the usual time i go online after going out with my friends.

As for Step 1, based on how i understand what the official Mothers site says, its like an abrasive polish but more on chemical in nature. Its like a chemical cleaner that removes dead paint and dull and oxidized finish by chemically removing the top layer. Based on what the agent from Mothers Philippines Distributor says, its totally non abrasive and can be used safely on all car finishes. But im more inclined towards sticking with what the official mothers site states, however i have tried using the Step 1 cleaner by hand and by Rotary (just for experimenting to see if it can work better) and both doesn't seem to thin out the clear coat. If ever it does thin out the clear coat, it would be a really really thin layer that would be removed. Its actually pretty safe since based on the Mother's Philippines agent it can be used as often without worrying too much especially if its applied by hand. I have also used it on my cars and haven't noticed any remarkable reduction in my clear coats.

If you are gonna clay and want to do things the right way, then i would suggest using Step 1, if you are concerned about Step 1 being abrasive or not, that or Step 1's abrasiveness, then apply a very thin layer only, and buff it off immediately, work by doing one panel at a time, this way if its a physical abrasive then working by hand won't remove a lot of clear coat, it would be negligible, and if its chemical in nature then buffing it off after doing one panel would lessen the time the chemical could work to remove a lot less of the clear coat. And yeah i would recommend using Step 1 after claying, but you don't have to use Step 1 everytime you detail. You only use step 1 if the paint has stains or dull paint. Using Step 1 on a very clean paint would be pointless.

Claying + Step 1 2 and 3 would be 2 thumbs up, and if you're still not satisfied, top it up with Mom's Topcoat for the added shine and protection. You get the Reflective mirror like shine from Topcoat and the wet look of carnauba upfront.

*Parekoy and Mau: Try to bring it over to Big Berts, im sure the people there could evaluate it and recommend the proper steps to take. Evaluation is free as far as i know and as far as the numerous times i asked. And at least there, they could tell you whether they could do the job of not, and if they say they can you can trust their word for it.

*Mau: Yup you're right, Just put it in an applicator, apply it to the paint panel, work it a bit since cleaners have to be worked with moderate pressure and needs some elbow grease to work. Buff it off using a MF Cloth and you're done. Just don't forget to top it up with a layer of Step 2 and 3 or any wax for than matter to seal it up and protect it.

Step 1 is different from Carnauba Cleaner Wax in the sense that Step 1 is a pure cleaner and it does not offer any protective layer afterwards, if you feel a smooth feel after reminiscent of a just waxes feel, that would be because of the rich oils in it. Step 2 is like a glaze and filler in one, it makes the paint shine and stand out more at the same time filling those light scratches and swirls. Step 3 gives that last shot of shine and depth at the same time protecting the paint with a Carnauba wax. As for the Carnauba Cleaner Wax imagine all 3 steps combined altogether in one product but does a lot less in each ones respective jobs. Its like a baby version of Steps 1 2 and 3 in terms of each of the 3 steps performance. This is quite good in terms of maintenance especially for those people that have less time to wax their car and even less time to do a 3 step process. It is significantly lower performing if compared with step 1's cleaning power and step 2 shine and sealing power but it not that far behind if compared with step 3's protection, in short, for a maintenance product it does a pretty good job of providing protection.

If you are set with using Step 1 to 3 then just use Step 3 every month and Step 1 and 2 only if neccessary. If you are bent on using the 3 step however, buying a Carnauba Cleaner Wax would be pointless since its cleaners can also remove your primary coating of wax replacing it with a less durable coating of wax. As for personnal preference im still with the 3 step process.

I hope you guys understand, kinda groggy now hehehe.

*Parekoy: They talking about Mother's brand, You could also try Megs, i've also used megs and its also nice, i just recomment Mothers since its a lot easier to remove hehehe.

*Mau and Chickselog: i read your post on the other thread regarding Zwipes and thanks for the information. I got 2 sets of the MF cloth with 2 MF applicator pads, and one of their drying towel. The Mf is quite good and the applicator pad is also nice, but im very dissapointed with their drying towel. It doesn't absorb a lot of water, i don't know if its just be but its also a bit hard and rough, im sticking with my Elevo and Microtex Drying Towel
