How do I remove this? I tried using clay but it smeared. Are there other methods? Thanks.

I use Eagle1 all-purpose cleaner for my trims diluted with H20 in a spray bottle. I use a small detailing brush (a toothbrush will do) to scrub grime, overspray etc. from the trim. then, I wipe some trim/vinyl/rubber dressing. I use Meguires dressing for this purpose.

Some detailers spray a "small" amount of WD40 in a terry cloth and wipe the trims with it to take out overspray. WD40 somehow dissolves the paint particles in the trims.

Teka... won't diesel fuel damage the rubber trim?
