Is there a special paint or procedure if I want to have the aluminum stepboard painted? Would an ordinary paint be easily chipped off since this accessory is always stepped on?
TIA

Hi Drave,
Painting aluminum is different from painting other metals.
There is a specific procedure that you have to follow or the paint job will either flake off or not look nice at all.
Look to people who do aluminum works for a living to see what has to be done.
I'm not sure what all this will entail so I'm afraid that I can't be of more help.
If you find out how it's done and where, please do post it here so everyone can benefit from your experience.
Good luck.

September 9th, 2007 08:14 AM #7sa car magic pag aluminum...we use a special kind of primer. paint centers have it its called galva coat. parang cement pag kumapit. after that, u may already paint it with whatever color. but...u must use urethane paint and top coat. matibay kasi. it wont get easily scratched lalo na step board yan...
sa car magic mo na pagawa... il just quote u 4,5k for that..1 day, home service.... less 10% pa... (ka forum eh) ... thanks dude! call me 9481874/09209142410 / www.carmagicph.net

5 years??? katagal namang esep- esep 'yan. baka naman inubos na ng kalawang 'yung
aluminum stepboard ni ts o pinalitan niya na lang ng stainless steel.
my three cents... i think electroplating is the only way.
electroplating is an electromechanical process for depositing a thin layer of metal on,
usually, a metallic base. basically, objects are electroplated to prevent corrosion but
generally, we see it as a way of producing an attractive finish, i.e. chrome mags.
how they do it or who's doing it? in the phils? hehehe... hindi ko rin alam.
hmmmnnn... how 'bout looking for someone who bought a cheap decaying chrome mags
and find out where he intends to send it for repair. maybe we'll learn from there...
