September 6th, 2012 03:00 PM #1May tanong sana po ako...
My ride is a 4 month old mitsu adventure
Nag park langa ko sandali sa bahay ng fiance ko tapos pag labas ko may 5 na scratches malalim yung iba pero di naman masyadong makapa ng kuko ko.
I usually use meg scratchX as it is clear coat safe... Daw.
I apply it till i can barely see the scratch, pero i notice that in one scratch medyo kuminis yung area na nilagyan ko, medyo nawala yung pagka balat suha,. Pero nandun padin yung texture nya medyo nabawasan lang ng konti compared sa ibang area.
Question ko sana ay ibig sabihin ba nun ay napasobra ako ng lagay to the point that i remove the clear coat in that area...
How would i know na makapal pa yung clear coat
Thanks very much na kaka oc talaga...

Sir, based on Meguiar's claims that their so-called defect removal solutions are all clear coat safe. The way I understood it, those swirl and scratch removers contain abrasive qualities and if you rub them vigorously in one area for a long period of time, your chances of removing the clear coat is very high. I would say around 30 seconds is long enough and from my experience in removing some of those swirls and scratches, by the time I reached about 15 seconds, my arms and shoulders already hurt thus the need to stop.hehe But there are really those stubborn ones that I couldn't get rid off anymore and I have learned to live with it particularly those that could catch my fingernail since I believe those require professional help already or repaint.
I don't know how to gauge the thickness or thinness of clear coats. But I believe that if let's say you have washed your car or applied some wax and after everything, there are areas that aren't clear or shiny anymore, I suppose that only means there are no more clear coat on those areas. That's how I gauge it.
