April 29th, 2007 04:12 PM #2461BASIC Questions about microfiber towels -
1. How do you properly store them after use (dry or wet)?
2. Can you use them to clean the car (with/ without shampoo, just water) or do they work best for drying only?
Thanks!

uh, why would you store towels (or I guess, anything for that matter) wet? anyway, I store them dry (after cleaning them).
with shampoo, with QD, with paint cleaner...etc.. they're not just for drying basically, thus, to answer your question, yes.

what will you recommend to clean windshields?
i have these nasty watermarks on the windshield and windows. Sabi sakin dun sa detailing center sa amin, parang acid rain daw. They quoted me P1k to clean all the windows and windshield.
Gusto kong i-DIY eh.
Rubbing compound kaya?

Thanks for the reply! Just to follow up, I bought a YELLOW Microtex microfiber towel - does it make a difference? Thanks again!

*bogart, somewhere in the early pages of this thread, a then-newbie detailing enthusiast (named patopig, having the same problem) used a mixture of vinegar and water for those waterspots. hth (as I have not yet had the need to rectify such a prob).
*louien, what do you mean by "does it make a difference?"?

May 9th, 2007 10:03 AM #2469Because if I'm not mistaken I read somewhere that the yellow Microtex towel is for drying only (this is the only microfiber towel I have for the meantime)... I just want to keep my carwash paraphernalia kept to a minimum i.e. shampoo and towel for BOTH washing-shampooing and drying (a bit oldschool as my dad used a chamois that's rubbery that you were supposed to store wet/ moist to clean our old cars with...
) or is this simply an incorrect way to do it? Appreciate it!

the yellow microtex you are referring to if I'm not mistaken IS a chamois.
imho: a minimal carwashing aresenal'd consist of atleast 2 towels. one you could use for shampoo/washing (if you don't want to use wash mitts and foampads, etc.) and another one for drying.
