hello, its not a crazy idea if you ask me, i have a few friends that have gone through the same process but their reason was to have their car covered with PPG Ceramiclear because they don't want to get too much swirls since they are too busy to take care of their cars and until now their cars are just washed by the usual car washes down the corner, and honestly it turned out quite well, they have a thicker clear coat which would offer more surface for paint correction and until now its still pretty much swirl free, but what they hate about it is that they spent about 20 to 25k just for that, its pretty much already like a washover price i dunno if its because of the clear coat, but i guess it all depends on how far and how much you would go for your new car, i mean my Revo has a Ceramiclear clear coat but honestly i find it a little impractical, why? its true that it has a really tough scratch resistant clear coat but once i get gash by a tricycle its pretty much also straight to the metal, the cost of repairs would also be higher, so in my case it wasn't worth it since the Revo was just a daily drive and semi delivery car, but in my friends' case with their BMW and their Camry it was well worth it because honestly it still looks as good as new even 4 years after, so bottomline for me, if you have the cash to spend and want that extra wet look and more paint to work defects then i would go for it, but if you're on a tight leash then i would just save the money and save it for a wash over, but if its me i don't really find it worth it if you just put on regular clear coat since if you add just a little more you get the really tough ones

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful insights there.
Will the regular swirl removers and rotary buffer be able to remove swirl marks off PPG Ceramiclear? Thanks for telling me about this tough clear coat.
Any recommended shops?

sir ginawa kuna sa trooper yan sobrang kintab parang pang carshow ang kintab......orange peel di gaano maganda sa dark colored car...a reputable detailing shop can do it with out wet sanding usually mga 3-4 steps detailing can do the trick....try to ask at bigberts thread...IMO
ako mas gusto ko yung may orange peel ng konti.. kasi talagang bago tingnan.. unlike pag sobrang kinis parang pinturado ang dating...
