Sir, just want to have some enlightenment...I had my radiator cleaned up this month, just wanna know when should I put another set of coolant? Is it after a month, every 2 months, 3 months, etc? Also how much coolant should I tap, 500ml or 1 liter?

    Ride is Nissan 86. TIA

You usually put 50% coolant based on the specified capacity in your owner's manual.

When in doubt, water should dominate.

Fluids degrade in time so as a rule of the thumb, replace fluids from what is recommended on the manual. Most coolant in the market are Sulfur, Phosphate, Borate, Amine-based corrosion inhibitor, they tend to buildup deposits an cause abrassive particles that could kill the water pump. Some coolant like Dexcool uses 2-ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHA) that when improperly used, could harm plastic and rubber seals and severely corrode the engine internals.

Remember that too much coolant could buildup deposits while too little could start a corrosion to disimilar metals-aluminum, copper, and iron parts of the engine, so most manufactureres do stipulate the ratio. Most jap cars recommends 50:50 mix of distilled water and coolant concentrate replaced every 40k kms, while for some fleet users long-life coolant is used plus a recharger fluid every 50k kms.

But Im sure naman na merong general ratio in all kinds of vehicle, right?
Kaya I wanna know kung puro distilled water na lang ba ang ilalagay ko hanggang sa magpacleaning uli ako after a year or two? Or kelan ko pwedeng isalin tong natirang coolant na around 200ml pa ata?

Ganito ang gawin mosa 200mL.. kuha ka ng 200 mL na distilled water then lagay mo both sa coolant-reservoir/ spill container. Problem solved..

Kung magbabawas man siguro 150mL lang for the entire 40k kms kita modin kaagad kung magbabawas without opening rad cap by looking at the reservoir..

After 40k kms drain & flush the radiator, engine block, and coolant reservoir. Pour new coolant same 50:50 ratio. Remember chemical degrade when subjected to heat so kung severe use mas madalas kadin magpapalit. For ordinary use, 40k kms. Kung bihira gamitin ang sasakyan or naka garahe lang, coolant should last along with the engine.

Radiator maintenance..when to tap another set of coolant?
