I've been using my ride for 1 year and 4 months now with 10,300kms ODO reading. Most of the PM has been done except for the radiator flushing. Do I really need to do it? How often should it be done?

I think they are adding some sort of a flushing additive and circulate it to your car's cooling system. Is that additive not harmful to the radiator? I remember once my brother-in-law had his mazda 323 radiator flushed in a gasoline station. After few days, his radiator started leaking. Because of that, I' thinking of just draining my radiator of old coolant and fill up with fresh water, circulate for few minutes and drain it again. Then add a fresh mixture of water and coolant. Will that be okay guys?

20K for me (per advise of Service Manual). IMO, if you flush regularly you don't really need to use those additives... we might not know the long term effects of these in the cooling system since flushing additives usually can be corrosive or strong.

Once a year regardless of mileage for me... Just drain, stick a hose into the rad until clear water comes out, then replace coolang/water.

Don't forget to drain the water in the engine block. You have to flush the cooling system as a whole. This often involves locating for the coolant plug on the engine block itself.

Once you have drained the system and are in the process of refilling it, you should start the engine to let the thermostat open and let coolant into the water jackets.

Mechanics, please chime in kung mali yung procedure ko.

no need na siguro to drain everything in the block. i mean it's ok if you really want to pero not worth the hassle imo.

Oo nga mukhang mahirap mag open ng mga engine block plugs. Baka may mga special seals pa yan na dapat palitan kung e open sya.

Depends on the vehicle and location of the plug. It may be hard on cars with cramped engine bays and low ground clearance. No special seals necessary, teflon tape or silicon sealant will do, it's what I used on my truck.

Dont' remove the water jacket plugs in your engine. Do this only during engine overhaul. Just runthe engine with the water running and your drain (radiator) plug slightly open is enough to let the water in the engine to get out. Coolant (prestone, shell glycol...ekek) prevent rust and corrosion and increases the boiling point of water.

Sa Altima kita naman ang block drain plug... socket wrench lang katapat.

There's another way of doing it naman if di mo maabot yung plug. Warm up the car until the thermostat opens, tapos make sure na di gaano kainit, remove the upper radiator hose while doing the flush... daming ibubuga yung waterpump kung rinev mo konti.

Best to do it with ample water flowing through para di matuyuan ang system...

Did that sa old benz ko dati grabe ang dumi...

Drained the radiator water 2x na and i used a little radiator flush (luma na kasi talaga oto), nung malinis na, i removed the radiator hose and reflushed, grabe, mas madumi pa sa 1st drain yung lumabas sa block hehe.
