August 11th, 2005 03:28 PM #1Patulong Po!!
Can anybody recommend a reliable shop/mechanic (sana sa QC area) to help mw with the engine problems of my hilux? Its a 4x4, 95 model. Has been running fine for the past months then suddenly I noticed that there was oil in the radiator!!
Have visited several shops around our neighborhood, pero iba-iba ang diagnosis.
I just inherited the rig, kaya don't know much about its maintenance history. Rig has a mileage of 107k na.
Salamat po!!

I'd drain the existing coolant first, drain it well and refill (kahit water lang muna), if oil is indeed seeping in, then pacheck mo, if wala, baka nalagyan lang dati (may oil yung pinagbuhusan ng tubig etc) I'm sure madaming masusuggest mga boys dito sa diesel board, or punta ka sa 4x4ph.com.
Good luck.

Hmmm..mukhang may head gasket leak ka sir, or a blown gasket head. While nabibiling sealant dyan na ikaw mismo eh pwedeng D-I-Y, I recommend you bring it a mechanic. Also, kindly do what Theveed suggested.
Good luck.Last edited by nicolodeon; August 11th, 2005 at 03:49 PM.

August 11th, 2005 04:08 PM #4you can do what theveed suggested, but if things don't improved, i believe niclolodeon is rigth, you have a blown gasket, which needs immediate attention, baka lumalala pa problema. changr the gasket. dami parts yan don't worry. it won't cost you that much.
good luck

August 11th, 2005 04:13 PM #5also, since you already exceeded 100k mileage, i suggest you replace the timing chain, or belt and tenssioners, due n yan bro. you may have to check on your water pump also once you remove you cylinder head.

actually, timing chains almost never requires replacement, yung mga guides lang kung umingay.

sometimes baka condensation or contaminated lang ang water na ilagay. check mo ang reservior if may mga stored oil na, if yes probably cause are blown head gasket, remedy pa top overhaul mo. some engines like isuzu culprit is the oil cooler may butas, not sure if ganyan rin type ng oil cooler ng toyota, 3L yata engine mo parang timing belt type yan.

occured to me once with my old ride.. coupled with engine overheating.. found out later i had a break on my cylinder head. a diagnostic method used by my mechanic was draining the rad, refilled it with soaped water, revved for a few minutes, drained the washings and poured in plain water. when oil residues reappear, then there's definitely a breech in ur gasket or the cylinder head itself

Dalhin mo sa talyer ni GlennSter sa Kamias (#92 Kamia ata yun). Sa G&S for FUJI auto supply (they own both). Look for Mang Dick, the in-house-stay-in mechanic. Ok siya. Kahit siguro pa-diagnose mo muna.

August 14th, 2005 12:51 AM #10Salamat sa mga payo,
Na diagnose na ng in-house mechanic ni Glenster (sa Kamias road) ang rig ko. I will have to replace the cylinder head gasket (PhP 1780) and have the radiator drained and overhauled to remove some oil residues that have gathered.
Fortunately the damage was diagnosed this early, hindi pa naman nag-ooverheat and the ride and perfomance has not been affected that much. Hope the labor does not cost me an arm and leg!!
The only remaining problem is the fuel gauge which has gone bananas! Unfortunately mang Dick said that he does not have any experience dealing with that kind of problem. Any ideas?
Sir Otep salamat sa recommendation, ok nga si Mang Dick, he really works fast!
Thnx ulit to those who gave their advise!
Dito sa pinas, daming dahilan kung bakit natetengga pero kadalasan niyan gusto lang ng pampadulas....
