January 24th, 2012 07:43 PM #1I had my air-con checked yesterday. The technician told me that the problem is the "hydilap". i search the net and ask auto supplies about it but they do not know what it is. so i searched again in the internet and i am guessing it is the "idle-up vacuum pump". i'm really not sure about this but its the yellowish metal beside the carburetor. so again the technician told me it is defective, its power is not enough so he adjusted its screw to raise its power.
does this has anything to do with my poor aircon power? how about my high fuel consumption?
I just want to make it clear if i can buy a new one or should i try a surplus if there's any... Can anyone give me an idea on how much it would cost me?
I really need help. my aircon has been my problem many times i changed almost every part but i am not satisfied with the coolness... and this goes to my fuel consumption too... i spend too much changing, repairing carb, tune up, overhaul, tires, everything but still not enough. do you think this idle up maybe the culprit? thanks a lot and more power

The idle up's job is to prevent the engine from dying when you turn the a/c on. The a/c is an added load so the engine has to compensate by raising the idle.
An idle up failure won't automatically result in your a/c not getting cold. Just the same, a hyperactive idle up can cause you to waste fuel since it will raise your idle speed unnecessarily.
I'm no mechanic. I suggest you visit a reputable shop (you can shop around at the recommended shops here at the forum) for the aircon problem and for the fuel consumption problem. Don't try to look for a miracle shop that can solve anything. It's good if you can find one, but its still safer to visit a specialist shop for specific problems.

What's your ride bro? though im not having the same idle issues like yours, i can say that once your car is plagued with AC problems, it kinda seems to re-occur like a disease. Hope you can find a solution for that, update us!

Do a thorough test. Check for static, high side and low side pressures when A/C is operating. Check condenser fan, baka mahina na airflow (dapat bagyo yan pag bukas). Possible problems are:
- compressor itself - magaspang na andar and mahina ang bomba resulting in a low high-side pressure and high low-side pressure. Pag lampas 45-50psi ka na on idle sa low side, then malapit na palitan compressor. 65 and above, palit ka na as per a/c techs.
- too much refrigerant. nasobrahan ng karga kaya hirap mag labor ang compressor and results na mataas ang pressure sa low side kaya mahina lumamig. makes matters worse kung wala kang pressure sensor switch kasi mabigat sa load, which results to high f/c.
- compromised refrigerant, too little of R134 a mixed with too much air.
- nonworking or mahinang condenser fan - results to high pressure on the low side and very very high pressure on the high side. hilaw or halos walang lamig ang result. Also results to compressor labor kung wala kang auto pressure sensor switch.

If you can get a more definite timeline than that i'd wait since the pearl finish(if white pearl is...
