honda civic 2001 aircon problem

guys i need your advise on this,

2 days ago, i noticed na hindi na masyado malamig yung AC ng oto pero after some time lumamig na rin. pero yesterday at around 12 PM napansin ko na hindi na talaga lumalamig, sobrang init pa naman and tanghaling tapat kaya pansin na pansin ko.

i was just wondering kung normal for a 4 year old car to be needing work done on the AC system parang napaka premature. nakalagay naman sa aircon literature na yung refrigerant should be recharged at around 50,000 km. pero nasa 39,000 km palang ako. yung usage naman ng oto hindi masyadong mabigat dahil sa school ko lang dinadala, BTW my school is 5 minutes away from home kaya 5 minutes lang yung takbo tapos nakapark na ulit. ano ano ba yung detrimental effects of running the car for a short period of time yung 5 minutes nga na travel from home to school?

Baka may leak yung evaporator. Kailangan palitan yun. Mura lang naman ang replacement nun. Around Php 3,500.00 for the ordinary type.

Pa-leak test mo na lang.

check mo dun sa filter/drier kung mabula na. meron syang window glass

If your AC becomes cold pag umaandar ka especially at more than 40kph, pero pag standstill walang lamig = aux fan.

Check mo muna yung glass sa drier, kung may bubbles, you're low sa freon. before recharging the freon, pa leak test mo muna... Hopefully freon lang kailangan mo...

Usual leak areas are hose joints, pressure switch, expansion valve, evaporator (if you dont get your AC cleaned often)... hopefully wag compressor (easy 15K), evaporator (over 10K if orig)...

i hope it doesnt have something to do with the evaporator, its only now that i noticed that the A/C still works pero mga 20% nalang siguro yung performance compared to when the A/C was still working ok, and this happens mga afternoon na pag hindi masyadong mainit. i hope it just needs a refrigerant recharge.

yep, there may be leak somewhere. have your car checked by mechanic na rin para sigurado tayo. 2 years ago nagkaganyan din ung ride ko. the problem: the evaporator is corroded, kaya yun pinapalitan na yung evaporator unit, then have the refrigerant recharged also.

otep could be right, it could be the evaporator dahil humina ang lamig....

with regards to your question about a 4 year old car needing aircon work, yes, it is possible. my Lancer 2k had a major aircon overhaul dahil nasira yung expansion valve and evaporator last year (2003), which means 3 year old pa lang yung car and just travelled around 30 thousand kms.
