car is a 1994 corolla gli with a 4efte engine swap,
i use coolant, radiator is religiously overhauled every year, new clamps,no leaks on hoses, water pump is fine, and definitely no coolant mixed with oil,i think the problem has been solved, the rad cap wasnt locked in tight, hahaha, now i will just need to observe it for a few days, thanks sa mga inputs
    :P

You don't need to overhaul your radiator every year. By overhaul do you mean they open it up and poke through the tubes? This is not a good practice.

As long as its the right mixture/formula for your coolant, you'd be fine.

last week kasi i noticed na nauubos yung water sa reservoir ko,so upon checking,i saw na may leak yung bottom part ng radiator which means may butas,so i had it repaired,ok na wala na leak, kaso 2 days ago, while driving from makati to paranaque with ac on,wala naman overheat pero nung naisipan ko ihataw nung lumuwag ang daan with the ac off, i noticed that umangat yung temp like 2 lines above the middle/normal part,so what i did was i turned back on the ac,and bumalik sa normal, when i got home, i turned off the ac and revved the engine up to 4k rpm twice, bigla na naman umangat yung temp pero once i opened the ac,bumalik sa normal,so i figured it maybe the rad fan, i checked the switched,ok naman, and then yesterday, tinesting ko,with ac off, traffic, from paranaque to mckinley hills taguig paikot ikot, wala over heat , then bumiyahe pa ko from sucat to trinoma and back wala pag angat ng temp, tand rad fan works ok nag aautomatic siya, then today i opened the rad cap, i noticed nabawasan yung tubig sa rad,so nag add ako ng mga isat kalahating baso, pero yung reserve na lalagyan, hindi nabawasan,i cant see any leaks from the rad, from the hoses to the bottom part,as in wala,i replaced the rad cap na pala and the hose clamps and visually checked everything pero wala talaga ako makita leak, chaka bakit hindi nababawasan yung reservoir ko di ba dapat pag naubos ang tubig sa rad sa reserve siya hihigop para puno parati yung sa rad,?bakit nababawasan pa din yung radiator ko?

sorry kung mahaba ,all inputs will be appreciated, thanks

Kratos4age already solved his problem, it was the radiator cap.

Radiator "overhauling" is like playing any game in a casino -you'd eventually lose. Replacing plastic tanks on aluminum cores with brass tanks is asking for trouble, its called galvanic corrosion. It is also a very environmentally unsound practice given the amount of lead solder you're introducing into a practically unrecyclable scenario.

We've tackled this in previous threads.

nakakaloko eh, bakit ganon? ok naman siya the whole day no overheat no unusual ek ek,bakit nabawasan siya at bakit hindi hinihigop yung tubig sa reserve?? im suspecting it could be the rad cap pero bago na siya eh,

note: wala leak talaga as in,

this is exactly what im thinking, baka nga may hindi na masyado nag seseal pero bakit kanina hindi naman nagbawas ng coolant when i opened the rad cap and checked it??!!! haha nakakabuang!

It worries me how often you open that cap or inspect your cooling system. You may well end up wearing the seals out prematurely or deforming your filler orifice.

OT Itong "overhaul it" culture is really getting annoying. Nauuna yung profit motive lagi imbes nang tumulong. Pffffffft.

but what do you suggest? how do we keep tabs on our coolant level? and in case of a bad leak, it takes only one trip to dry up your radiator.

You can check the coolant levels without opening the radiator cap, right?

If there is an inherent leak present then you really should have that inspected. Otherwise you're going to end up with a mental disorder worrying about it.

These sub-systems are built to be reliable. If they lose their reliability, then there is something wrong. If there's something wrong -fix it the right way.

    .
    how?
i have had experience wherein the radiator coolant had already gone down so low that the metal top of the core was already visible, and yet the overflow cannister still contained significant amount of coolant...
in my example here, it seems i had a leak.. in the short rubber hose hiding under my intake manifold. it was completely invisible.. the only clue was when i opened my radiator cap, my coolant was gone, even as my overflow still had liquid in it..
and i would never have suspected a leak, had i not opened the cap..

I don't understand. In normal situations you really don't have to check that regularly. Those caps and filler necks aren't cycle tested for repeated removal.and sealing. Those are made from stamped sheet metal. You can check on it from time to time but not on a daily basis.

That is one of the reasons why jeepneys don't bother with replacing their caps.

Unless you're the type that confirms if a door is locked by unlocking it at least three times every time, a leak is the least of your problems.
