the coolant actually raises the boiling point of water.
may expereiment sa chem class noon pag nilagyan mo ng asin yung tubig mas matagal sya magboil. Same principle with the coolant. It actuall y raises the boiling point of water above 100 deg C. (pero i'm not saying na lagyan mo asin yung radiator water mo hehe)
aside from that tama sila may anti corrosion properties yung coolant
Gamit ka distilled water kahit yung nabibili sa water refill stationstama yung sabi ni Rodyok... again what we learned in chemistry diba distilled water is a form of pure water walng dissolved substances in it
Tap water may have dissolved calcium salts and minerals kaya possible na may build up in the long run.

yes, i use engine coolant...distilled water din po gamit ko...1 liter of coolant lang for the whole cooling system....
tama kayo guys:
-pure ethylene glycol boils at 187.2 degrees Celsius
-water boils at 100 degrees Celsius
-ethylene gycol will raise the boiling point of water
-pure ethylene glycol freezes at -13.3 degrees Celsius
-water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius
-ethylene glycol with 50% water solution freezes at much lower freezing points = -36.6 degrees Celsius

tama dapat ang ratio / mixture ng distilled water and coolant.
always check your car's manual if in doubt. ur friend doesn't have the statistics to prove his theory about just using distilled water.

how can you know the ratio? does anyone know ilang liters meron sa radiator ng ford lynx gsi and kia pride cd5 para alam ko kung ilang liters ng coolant ilalagay ko hehe.
another question, sa radiator may ratio di ba? how about dun sa reserve? naka label kasi sa kotse ko "coolant only" dun sa lalagyan ng reserve.
last question, what are the effects of having pure coolant? do they really eat gaskets? proven na ba to? yung isa ko kasi kotse pure coolant nakalagay, di ko pa nililikot

Nasa manual yung full capacity ng cooling system.
By cooling system, that includes the reservoir tank.
You should also refill the reservoir with the correct mix. But for topping up and you don't have coolant on hand, ok na ang tubig.
Kung original pa ang coolant ng car mo, hindi pure coolant iyan. The coolant they use from the factory is pre-mixed with water to correct specs.

no, im not using any coolant kasi ang alam ko pagmali ang mixture wala din silbi. pagsobra naman nakakasira sa radiator kaya ang ginagamit ko lang ay distilled water, yung tipong wilkins yung nabibili sa 7/11. pagdistilled water kasi hindi nagkakaroon ng corrosion, yung bang nasa mga nasa takore natin.
They managed to get that "green plate" for the Ertiga, and I heard/seen news that they're pushing...
