cjv, pwede pa post ng pics ng shade ng tint from outside?![]()
Patanong lang -
Currently using 3M casa medium black on my civic - no tints sa windshield aside from the top strip.
Was quoted 5.8k at the Santolan store to replace these with Solargard tints, along with adding full windshield tint.
Ang init kasi lalo ngayon summer. Would I notice significantly less heat if I just have the windshield tinted instead with clear tint? (quoted 2.7k)
Also, what shade of solargard would be comparable to the casa 3M medium blacks pero a wee bit lighter? Medyo madilim talaga sa loob ng kotse e.
Thanks.
*mda
i'm using solargard hp supreme 16 for the windshield. you could opt for solargard hp supreme 16 or xg 20 its their medium black version. if you want the magic effect you choose between quantum 19 and quantum 14 for the windshield.
How does one know if its the original solargard tint? Other than going to authorised shops? Unfortunately dito sa area namin wala pang solargard dealer (o di ko lang nakita) but i have seen shops that says they have the original solargard tints. So, just to make sure na original nga yung ikakabit nila, is there a way to confirm this? Like 3m holograms, does solargard also have have unique markings to verify it? TIA
I was thinking of having the front retinted to something na solargard 70% visibility or something. Do they have anything even clearer?
Masyadong madilim na for us yung mga 19 sa windshield eh.
We'll also look into the magic effect.
If we're going to have our windshield retinted with something clear-ish, would it be possible to put a dark strip on the top of the windshield and then place the clear tints over it? Para hindi nakakasilaw during summer driving.
the Quantum37 would be the really safe bet for the full front windshield IMO... magic effect but a wee bit lighter ...
laking tulong pa sa aircon ng auto...
i've been hearing V-kool is very good... but too expensive... not cool...
cguro naman mas mababa quote kapag pa-tint sa pick-up, laki kse windows nung sa FD e...
Had the car tinted with HP10s para same shade as the casa medium blacks.
Also got the clear-ish windshield tint claimed to have ~50% heat rejection.
Left the car in the sun - parang pareho lang. Instead of scorching hot, it's just very hot. Small difference though.
Might stick with stock 3M tints next time if I don't choose vkool instead.
guys just want to know, do all original windshield of cars come with a special tint already or not? the reason im asking is that i have a friend that had to replace his windshield after it suffered a crack. he replaced it with a windshield from agila class producers... and since then he noticed that it was getting really hot, that he eventually decide to have the windshield fully tinted..
by the way guys his ride is a starex. i also have one but i kept telling him that i dont feel the heat as much as he did on his van.. eventually i rode on his van one time and then i noticed that it was indeed hotter than on my van..
later on i was wondering what could be the difference,, as my van only had the top part tinted..then i came across the writing on my windshield that says 75% transparency,, goin around my van i noticed its 70% tranparency on the other windows..
back to my question,, it this standard on all cars?
usually kasi medyo solar glass ang windshield ng Hyundai
yung Tucson ko naman Solar Glass yung sunroof.
yung Genesis Coupe naman Solar Glass lahat ng windows
Re: Solargard Santolan
SHORT FEEDBACK: POSITIVE
Let me start with the only CON about this place. Its expensive! Compared to your typical Banawe Solar Gard installer they are much more pricey. But I will detail why its worth it naman...
Before going to this place though I highly recommend to have an appointment and make it at 8AM (their opening) because there were a number of people already queuing after me (I was the first for today, 8AM sharp I was there already and already set an appointment last week pa). And always bring CASH, because they charge an extra 7% for credit card transactions.
You can customise what you want, they can even give you suggestions on what fits more for your car... For example, for my Lexus IS200 the front side windows are smoked from the factory already (tinted glass) but the back sides are not. So the lady suggested to have my front with a lighter shade and the back with a darker shade to somehow make them equal in terms of darkness when viewed from the outside. So I used LX40 (Solar Gard's TOTL) on the front windshield and the moonroof as these two requires the best heat rejection at the same time good visibiity. Then Quantum 17's on the side and the back. LX40 has a 10 year warranty which covers discoloration and bubbles. While the Quantums have a 5 year warranty.
So here is there tint room, enclosed and air conditioned... Now that is already one major difference compared to your Banawe installers... So dust and particles are kept at a minimum when performing the operation.
They also work very fast and clean, they use 3-4 people at a time to quicken the job. Banawe installers typically use just 1 person so it takes around 3 hours or more. My whole tinting procedure only to took an hour and a half and that already includes a moonroof. On top of that the guys here are veterans, they work quick and move quick... They also use towels when they work inside as to avoid getting your interiors wet when they spray it with their water solution when sticking the tint.
Here is the final product when viewed from the outside...
FRONT: (LX40)
SIDE: (Quantum)
BACK: (Quantum)
And when viewed from the inside...
FRONT:
SIDE:
BACK:
Very satisfied with their work! And as for the heat rejection, I am very satisfied even when its fully baked in the sun a few minutes with the aircon on #1 fan can cool the cabin down. Now my butt will never ever get burnt by the leather seat! :P

Sir Tidus, actually Solar Gard Santolan is one of the best places to get tints, so far sila ang pinakamalinis mag tint sa lahat ng mga napagawan ko, usually I only bring better cars to Solar Gard, if its our older or lower end cars I just bring them to Banawe or Autodresscode in Santolan Pasig since this is 5 minutes away from me.
