I'm a 1st time Volvo owner so I'm curious, anyone knows if there's a local Volvo car club dito sa Manila?

I think it would be nice to know other owners of the same brand for info exchange, meet ups, etc

    thanks!!

That was also me who posted that in the BMW forums a few months back hehe

I guess most Volvos here are not owner driven thats why not many Volvo enthusiasts around?

I hope situation changes with the new S40

    Cost me 1.9M for the 2.4i (170hp, 230nm) version.

Car is kitted pretty well with almost all near-luxury car features included maybe except for moonroof and CD changer.

Btw, I just saw a Volvo ad today in the Inquirer but they didnt say which car they are launching soon. I guess its pretty obvious

    hi boyscout,

nice to finally meet another Volvo owner online. How's your S40? Did you accessorize your car?

btw, im curious, anyone knows if is it true that euro cars dont need to follow break in procedure? I got the idea from one of the Volvo forums

Hi, It depends on the dealer unless u bougth
from Grey, or if speedo shows figure of test done, PORSCHE and other exotics already conduct break-in, since ur car belong to premiun class u should take care avoid rev over 4000rpm some casted residue metal migth scratch bore shaft ect. wait til 1st 1000Km change oil & filter before exploit full potential. I know u know it>>
    nice VFR
    nuebies here'

There is no ALL-NEW S40, just a face-lifted one for 2009. It still sports the Peter Horbury body, freshened up by Steve Mattin.

    thanks for the feedback!

i was going thru the owners manual but couldnt find anything about engine break-in. also, it says there that first check up is 15,000 kms although local Volvo dealer suggest 1st 2000 and every 10,000 after.

hmmm... i wonder who i should follow..

Wow, this is a very old thread na pala! Sorry, but I don't know of any local Volvo clubs.

Actually, my dad already "bought" the S40 from me last year but he left it with me til I get a new car daw. So far so good naman after 4 years. Never gave me any major headache.

How about now na 5 years na? Maybe Ok pa but maybe you can share some thoughts or views on what parts needs replacing, what problems to expect from a 5 year old car, which talyer gives good service, and which shop sells vovlo parts at a price lower than competitors.

Sold the S40 a few months ago. The only part that broke down outside of warranty was one of the rear door locks. Had it replaced for about 4k pesos I think.

Overall, my Volvo ownership experience was quite positive except that resale value was quite low.
