Any experiences so far from Volkswagen owners, particularly with the Tiguan and Golf?
Any experiences so far from Volkswagen owners, particularly with the Tiguan and Golf?
I drive a VW Golf pero here in Germany. I have been working here for quite sometime already so I don't really know what the VW Golf model is in the Philippines. As far as I know, the German Golfs are still assembled here but for other countries, it is assembled either in Mexico, Indonesia or China.
If the VW Golf here is the same as the VW Golf we have in the Philippines (though most likely not made in the same place), I will choose Golf over the most expensive Altis or Civic. The build quality is really nice and the interior, while it is simple, is still really elegantly made. My VW Golf here is the 1.4 TSI DSG. It's really fast at 150hp for a small car since you need that power in the Autobahn.
I have owned (and still own) Japanese cars but the VW is way better in everything except for design probably. I think the designers are old grumpy Germans (jk). Polo and Jetta might not look that good but Golf, Tiguan and Touareg are really pogi. I really like the style though probably not the style we are used to in the Philippines.
At first, I didn't really like the VWs but having experienced driving a VW Golf for a couple of months, I am now a convert. It is the car of choice here (not the BMWs or Mercs - except probably the Turkish).
I checked the price of Golf and there's no non-GTI version. Too bad for us. GTI is too expensive though come to think of it, Subaru vs VW, I might still choose VW (I haven't driven both though).

my jetta tdi just passed the 3th km. so much fun with the torque of this tdi in catching up speed. it just surge like a rocket. I didn't expect a 110HP engine can do such wonders. and yet, it is more stable. giving you the confidence you need. Japanese vehicles esp those made for asean countries feels slippery on wet roads.
Really interested in that Touran. Has most of what I'm looking for: 7-seater, Diesel, Euro car (medyo mabawbaw na reason, always wanted one), withing the price range is autodeal is to be believed. Any insights if it's a good buy? Particularly versus similar vehicles?
It's a good buy if they can lower it down to 1.5 for the tdi matic. Dapat kasama eto sa mga cash discounts nila. Fuel efficiency, hands down. The diesel runs like a gasoline. It's smoother than auv gasoline in our test drive.
Tapos Kung presyuhin dito kala mo ginto
Sobrang feeling mga Europeans
I always wanted a beetle. But I decided to delay my purchase, anyway I plan to use it as my toycar only. What I don't like with the current beetle is the AT. It uses the problematic 7 speed dry clutch DSG.
VW is starting to replace their 7 speed dry clutch DSG with the conventional automatics. Many customers who had the 7speed DSGs started experiencing failure after 2-4 years.
I will probably wait for the beetle model with a conventional automatic before I seriously consider buying a beetle. I plan to keep the beetle for a very long time.
Btw , VW has a sales promotion right now. An acquiantance sales man offered me a Touareg with a P400k discount.
I heard some insider news that a Jetta 1.6L TDI AT will be released locally. No info yet on actual pricing.
Volkswagen Philippines is setting a bullish 40 percent growth in sales this year from last year’s 602 unit sales on better product line and the introduction of its new high-end model variants.
Philip Orbeta, VW Philippines president, told reporters at the Media Thanksgiving that growth drivers this year will be its best selling Tiguan and the Polo sedan and hatchback models and specialty cars Bettle and Touareg.
The company also plans to introduce its top of the line R-Lines for its models. Each VW model has R-Line variants which would cater to VW fans and aficionados.

Autoindustriya just posted details of the new Jetta. The insider news I got was that the 1.6L TDI was supposed to be brought here.

1.5m is quite steep for a diesel subcompact, thats already a base Camry trim and not far from base sonatas or optimas.

The Jetta is a compact. VW's subcompact model in PH is the Polo.
However, the price is still high for a compact. You can get the more powerful Focus 1.5L Ecoboost or the award-winning Mazda3 2.0 SkyActiv for 100k less compared to the Jetta Trendline 1.4L Turbo. With HondaPH's current pricing model, the upcoming Civic 1.5L Turbo might not be far off in terms of pricing.
I think the only buyers of VWs are Ayala employees. When you compare their offerings against the competition, talo talaga.
Mukhang bullish pa ang Ayala this year since 40% increase in sales ang target nila. I think mga 600 units last year ang benta nila so which means happy na sila makabenta ng 800-900 units. Mukhang malaki ang profit margin nila that's why unit prices are high
