Volkswagen Philippines announces pricing for 1st batch of models | TopGear.com.ph

Launching Sept 27 Greenbelt. BGC showroom open on Sept 28.
Definitely not for the lowly-paid employees like me. The pricing's a bit too high as you can get an SUV for the price of a Jetta.

Ooppss....that's not good. The pricing is a bit high so it will be tough for VW to compete against the Japanese or Korean brands, unless they plan to outsell the German brands.

touareg at 4.29M? paksyet, i'd rather get me a LC200 with all the bells and whistles, and at 190k less!

same as before, they priced themselves out.

BMW X5 kasi daw ang katapat. But yeah, an LC200 would be a better car, has more seats and as a Toyota, after sales service won't be a headache.

"As a brand that literally means “People's Car”, VW Philippines will be pricing their models above the top end Japanese brands but lower than the brand's German compatriots such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and even Audi (to which VW cars are technically related)."

Partner with Ayala? A good company but also comes with good prices for themselves.

I got some isuzus from the Ayalas. And so far so expensive in their casa services.

The problem with VW is that they are going to enter to the market without any highly desirable OMFG BBQ cars
Basically they have no showstoppers to bring their customers into their dealers or motorshow stands

I mean Peugeot entered here with the RCZ, Ford reentered the market with the slightly subsidized Expedition (it was 1.4M during its time), Subaru with the STI (obviously), Audi with the TT, and at the bottom end of the scale, Kia with the Pride (it brought people to their dealerships, so job done)

Nothing VW is selling here is either desirable or cheap. Not bringing the Beetle/Scirocco/Up will hurt them massively

The iconic Golf would have been a winner if it was one of the first models to be released. The Jetta TDI with the more powerful 2.0L TDI engine (140hp/320Nm) coupled with the DSG tranny would have been decently priced for 1.295M instead.

Scirocco R is reported to be on display (sadly not on sale) at Greenbelt. I'd really like to have one if they priced it well enough for the BIR to recognize it as a business expense. Alam ko kasi 2.2m or 2.4m ang limit ng BIR.

On display 9 models: scirocco, golf, beetle cabriolet, tuareg, tiguan, touran, beetle, passat, jetta

Pero as with all brand new cars amoy bagong kotse tlaga..

Maganda ang golf pero kung kaya ng bulsa ko tiguan na lang..

Inulan lang kaya bisi mga punas guys..

I talked to one of the local VW reps in Greenbelt last Saturday. I asked him why such an output from the TDI engine on the Jetta and even inquired if it was the 1.6L TDI they had on it due to the output specs. He told me that the 2.0L TDI engine they placed on the Jetta and Touran is the same as the one powering the Tiguan. He said they tweaked the engine to lower output for the Jetta and Touran. The engine on the Tiguan is the same as those 2.0L TDI engines they have in Europe and US models. I don't know though why the heck they did that.

Some of the popular VWs are not in the line up because the have issues sa gasoline naten-either too low or too contaminated. That's their reason. Although, why do we have porsche 911s and Lambo dealerships if they were iffy about the quality of our gasolines?

As the head of VW Philippines stated in an interview (regarding other premium cars using our local gas), "That's their problem, not ours."
