All local VW dealerships are under Ayala group so they all share the same inventory.
Yup, being a wagon I didn't think pinoys would eat the Golf GTS that's why I kinda dilly-dallied with my purchase. I guess I underestimated the appeal that diesel has with us PH folks.

Now their demand is through the roof and the showrooms we called no longer accept reservations, even said that the current price is only introductory (even with the recent adjustment of +40k in Business Ed and +90k in Ed+). They said they'll open it to customers again by January so not sure how things are by then, and are just offering us the seemingly overstocked Jetta.

I don't think the Jetta is bad, but for a small family the Golf GTS would have been perfect for me.

The Jetta is one good package for a compact - a comfortable compact with a decent platform, a thrifty yet good performance diesel engine. Think of it as a poor man's Audi A4 TDI. The Golf and Jetta are practically the same car but only differs in configuration. Even the Golf GTi and Audi S3 use the same platform.

Our Jetta 1.6L TDI DSG may not have the more powerful turbo diesel engine but we are more than happy with its ride, consumption, and performance. Not bad for the 950k we paid for it.

Was that price based on Ayala-employee discount?

Kahit yung lowest 1.1m Jetta variant sulit. Same 2.0TDI engine, so mas sulit vs base models of the same vehicle class.

Yep, we waited 6 months for the unit to arrive after expressing our interest to get one. My wife left the Ayala group less than 2 months after we got the car. Hahaha

It beats the hell out than buying a City VX or Altis 1.6V for around the same amount of money last year.

Last year, the Jetta 1.6L TDI DSG Highline was supposed to have a retail price of 1.398M, 100k lower than the top-spec 2.0L TDI DSG which was sold for 1.498M. We were offered a 450k discount thru the Ayala corporate car program. The lower-spec Comfortline model was offered for 900k and the Trendline was at 850k. The Jetta 1.6L TDI MT was offered for 800k.

VW-PH announced an inventory sale for all their 2016 models around November last year. The Jetta 1.4T DSG was sold at a bargain price of 950k, the Golf 1.4T DSG at 1.05M, the Jetta 2.0L TDI DSG at 1.1M, and the Jetta 1.6L TDI MT at around 780k. Apparently, they had to do this to make way for the 2017 Jetta 2.0L TDI and Golf GTS Wagon models which are priced more competitively.

I might just get the Business Ed+ of the Jetta as my options have shrunk to almost just this model.

Anyway how is your Caddy pala sir, wala namang complaints or kahit any concern ba so far

I hope you don't get annoyed by the MPH unit display of the speed. There is no option (it wasn't there) to show "alternative display" which is how it can display in KPH.

BGC is the "main" branch and gets most of the allocation. I had my PO issued to BGC but there's no car. They were offering me BE (not plus) opened units but I'm not interested in that as my sole reason for going with the Golf is the DAP. Found an open unit elsewhere but not in the three color preferences I want (silk blue, grey, or silver), kinuha ko na din.

I know that currently, walang franchises ang Iconic Dealership Inc, lahat owned nila.

    Ano ung DAP sir?

They have an available white BE because someone backed out but I don't find the color match well with the curves/profile of the car.

Now that I've given up on GTS, my new choice the Platinum Gray Jetta BE is also not available (other colors are though), hirap naman.

I drove my office mate's golf gts today. Really friggin nice car for 1.25m.

Loads of features. Great engine, build quality, transmission and panoramic sunroof, leather etc. Very quiet inside....didnt sound like a diesel at all. Superb sound system with a built in subwoofer that really surprised me. Android Auto worked like a charm. And damn that DSg transmission with paddle shifters is bonkers good.

    Value for money is fantastic.

What more if they offered all that in a Golf hatchback? Last year's Golf 1.4T was really good but give it the 2.0L TDI engine plus all the features of the Golf GTS wagon, you got yourself a thrifty yet sporty hatchback.

Nagkakaubusan nga ng stock eh kaya haba ng pila. Di ata na-anticipate ng local VW dealer yung demand.

DAP = driver assistance package, made up of:
    - Adaptive cruise control (Golf, Jetta)
    - Park assist (Golf)
    - Park distance control (Golf)
    - Lane Assist with Lane departure warning (they removed the feature citing inappropriate for our roads)
    - Front assist - Forward collission warning (Golf, Jetta)
    - Blind spot monitor (Golf, Jetta)

These features are really useful for me and personally tested. Had they let the Lane Assist enabled, the car is semi-autonomous driving capable.

Front assist worked well in my experiences, braking automatically to prevent collision. Sinadya ko yung isang instance, it still activated.

As far as white (or any color) is concerned, I think it's acquired taste. When I first saw it, sabi ko "panget" :D When I took it for a long drive, it quickly grew on me.

Yung October shipment was only about 130 units. The local dealership might have to "fight for" allocation in production as the Golf Sportwagen/Golf Variant (what this car is known in other markets) is the brand's more popular model.
