Thats why they call if forum. Not everyone have to agree on someones opinion, and thats the beauty of individuality. Now, name calling (dumb*ss, dirtbag, butthead, knuckledragger, etc) that stepping out of line.

this is one of the reasons kaya di tayo nagkakaintindihan mga tao sa mundo... react kaagad tapos may banat pa ulit. Mas katakataka kung bigla na lang sinarado ng walang nag-rerequest.

Yung mga politics saka religion threads dito sa Tsikot wala ring naresolba sa isyu. But they were not closed. I remember the "Intelligent Design" threads, people were trying to convince each other about their "GOD" and "NO GOD" beliefs. But the thread was not closed. And besides, the objective of discussion threads is not to "resolve" the issue as you claim. But to find out what other people are thinking about the issue. Closing the thread altogether prevents people from sharing ideas any further.

I didn't see anyone "directly hitting" anybody in particular in that thread. When people refer to "AMO ni Inday", it could have been anybody who has a maid. Like i said, maybe because the "subject matter" was painful to people who have uniformed maids -- can't stand in a cooking pot. Again, people were more vicious with their posts in other "religious" threads here pero nagsawa rin sila. Pero "personal" topics like your maids, is too personal for comfort that it is considered taboo.

i've monitored the posts there from the beginning and some of the posts there were alread personal attacks and are not objective anymore.

there are a lot of other debate threads out there (like the "not everything in the bible is true" thread) but that thread is different. I made a subjective judgement that a lot of negative energy is already brewing and it is not good for the Tsikot community.

but then again i think we should all cut moderators some slack - they're human and it's possible some of them felt personally attacked by what was going on.

i think what's more appropriate in some cases - if you guys think that some members are fanning the flames or attacking other members - is not a thread close but a warning/suspension/ban, depending on the gravity and frequency of the offenses.

personal attacks against me (since am the one who closed it) is not the reason why it was closed (since there was none). though to note I did not feel offended with your last comment there (though I know that the rephrased portion was an indirect quote from me... hehe).

I've already given a warning (that I would close down the thread) but still there were still a few who are still going at it. in my judgement, closing a thread is a lesser "punishment" than outright member ban/suspension (temporary or permanent). though it is also a deterrent to further personal attacks.

i was a little surprised to see it locked as well, because i thought that it was definitely a heated debate, but i didn't really see any hateful or abusive comments towards either moderators or members. although i didn't see any posts that may have been deleted, so maybe it was those ones.

i think some of the posts in the thread were silly, but hey - a forum is to speak one's mind.
