Kakabukas ko lang ng pc ko, napansin ko na ni-lock nung Moderator yung thread ko tungkol kay "Inday in Uniform". I'm not exactly sure what his reasons were for preventing other people from making further opinions. If there are some posters who "appeared" to be making personal attacks, they were censured and in fact, they volunteered not to post anymore. So I'm not sure why there is a need to lock the thread.

Pardon my views, but i think the posts made about "Inday in Uniform" were heated, but I don't think anybody posted anything that can be classified as "motivated personal attack" against anybody. Some threads before were even more vicious, like those related to Pro-GMA versus Anti-GMA, but they were not locked. People simply lost interest in the thread. But here, some people are still exchanging views among themselves and suddenly the discussion was locked.

I find that too MARCOSIAN. Is it because there are moderators who have uniformed maids and the subject was getting too hot for comfort for them? Ganyan din ginawa ni Gloria Arroyo when she attempted to close down the media because the discussion was too hot for her comfort. So where is Freedom of Speech here?

Again, it's one thing to ask people to tone down their views. It's another thing to totally shut down an ongoing discussion to prevent people from posting any further. The first one is "moderated" discussion. The latter is "martial law".

But should the rest of the law abiding citizens have to suffer because of the crimes of the few?

i'll refer to these two rules. these two are the most common basis why a thread is locked.

any solution to this posters aside from closing the tread? maybe this is what el chicane has in mind
well a moderator, warns them (posters) especially when it is turning into a heated debate. but under circumstances, should the poster is persistent, it is the call of the moderator to lock the thread to avoid any conflicts. now is that a martial rule? i don't think so. since minsan may matigas talaga ang ulo at makulit na poster, even with warnings, moderators have no choice but to close the thread...

siguro, yung topic per se, eh walang masama. pero yung posts eh kung may mga tirahan na on a personal level eh judgement call na rin yan ng mga mods.

    there are rules to follow....

You can steer people back to the topic, like we always do in other threads. But closing down totally is too draconian, i think. Because some people are still posting their views related to the topic.

Saka isa pa, some people agreed to "cease-and-desist" in posting further if they were identified as offending, kaya i was not sure why a discussion had to be shutdown and prevent even the valid views to be posted any further. Brings back memories of martial rule.

Inday really hit a "personal chord" on some people in this one.

actually, moderators do steer back those off-topics posters. kaya lang minsan, may matigas talaga ang ulo.

kahit ako medyo nagulat(closed). pero kung nabasa mo post ko dun, kung wala ako sa kinalalagyan ng isang tao(moderator) i tend to observe muna. ayaw ko muna mag judge. in due time, lalabas rin naman kasi yung gusto ko malaman.
