Amnesty Day? [anybody want to change/modify their usernames?]

I just took this idea from the other board I frequent.

How about let's set aside a period of time wherein veteran users (Tsikot member for xxx number of years and of xxx number of posts or more) will be granted the chance to revise their displayed user names. E.g. from August 1-15, post in a certain thread your current usernames and what username you want afterwards.

The revised username will be permanent until the next amnesty day (after 5 years?) and they will have to wear "Formerly xxxx" in the status bar under the username for about a year.

This is just a suggestion.

this is a great idea, OTEP. we will consider it, provided that there are enough takers.

am just thinking, who would give up their nicks after holding to them for so many years.

anyway, those who are for this suggestion and would avail of this amnesty (though wala namang mga krimen ), please reply to this thread.

I get some PM's and SMS regarding the matter. Some would want to change their name because its not appropriate to them now (e.g. mugen wants to change his username). Some forumers want to edit their names in terms of punctuation, capitalization, etc. Little stuff.

marami dyan papi T. examples na yung sinabi ni doc otep, dagdag mo pa yung usual reasons from another board I frequent like:
a. dati bf-gf namegame yung ginamit nila, e nagbreak na sila. hehehe
b. napindut nila yung send, e di pala nila ganun ka feel yung ginawa nilang handle.
c. "company" name sila dati...
d. etc., etc.

baka pwede na pong ma-post yung criteria ng mga pwedeng magpa-amnesty para malaman talaga kung ilan sa mga pasok sa criteria ang mga "takers".

i think it's a good idea... i've been thinking about changing mine as well, but ONLY if there is a way for other members to know/remember that i'm still dazedchiq and IF nobody can register using "dazedchiq" as their username.

i thought of sending out newsletters for this situation, but i don't think a lot of people will bother to know, especially remember, all the changes lalo na kung madami ang magpapalit.

what if we add the old handle under the new one (in a smaller font) or something that will identify us so that people (and new members) won't get confused? kasi we change our avatars and signatures once in a while and kung bago na ang nakalagay tapos bago pa ung handle, mahirap ma-identify ung person, dba?
