    no material things.

    take them to dinner, give them my heartfelt thanks for their hard work during the year, and give them a small token of appreciation like a christmas wreath or goodie basket.

    then, when it comes to performance appraisal time, reward them monetarily in the way they richly deserve (or not)

    Depende iyan sa dami ng iyong staff at ang budget mo para sa kanila. Sa akin, medyo mahirap sa bulsa dahil I have 8 direct reports (Managers) at 50+ staff personnels, mostly engineers. Usually, we go out for dinner a week before Christmas and then I give little somethings/tokens for them,- like what M54 Powered was saying. Very little speech,- just thanks and appreciation for their great job.

    Salary increase for my staff is not an option, dahil empleyado rin lang ako.....

    Small tokens are usually ok. Sa Caloocan last year, binigyan namin yung mga operators/receptionist ng parang nail care set. Less than Php50/ea ata. Sa Watson's pa namin nabili kasi medyo last minute. This year ata mga 'Lacoste' na pouches galing 168. hehehe.

    Yung dad ko dati namigay ng suklay. Nakalimutan niyang kalbo pala yung isa sa bibigyan niya. :lol:
