we stay at Kyriad Bercy expo then in 2006 in Paris, verynear their MRT station but problem is language, even in MRT only a few can speak english, (dapat mag french ka dun), from there you can easily go to the attractions you mentioned, dont forget also The Louvre, NotreDame church, the church of Napoleon, EURO DIsneyland, etc... i forgot na.... before i forget they have cabaret show at night with dinner na rin.. 120Euro ata per person, including buffet dinner na..

BTW, are you going there alone meaning not joining a tour? we went there with trafalgar tours. HTH..

Learn the basic greeting and thanks and you are all set! They are very nice despite all the bad rep they are getting from media....

Paris is AWESOME!

yes, i would recommend staying near the city center. the view over the champs elysees is awesome, especially at night. yes, it is more expensive, but pretty much everything in Paris is expensive, and the extra cost is worth it considering that you won't waste any time getting there on the subway system, and you're right in the middle of the city already.

the Louvre is a must see, followed by the Eiffel Tower (watch out, it will take you half a day in line if you want to go up), the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe (this is at the end of the Champs Elysees so you can walk there if you're staying close by), and Montmartre.

make sure you budget some time for just walking around and just discovering random things...you will find some really cool sights, and make sure you sample all the crepes, baked goods, bread, wines and all the good food France is famous for.

shopping - bahala kayo...you will find some exquisite sossy stuff but everything is super expensive. finally, regarding the bias against English speakers - it's true that the French are a proud people, and they would prefer that you try to speak their language, but they are used to sharing their city with tourists, and as long as you are humble, respectful and aware that you are a guest in their country, you will find them to be nice people.

oh, and last and most importantly - their girls are HAWT!!!

Just want to add, the LOUVRE is a very big place. If you would like to see most of it, you have to give a couple of DAYS for it, otherwise, plan well what you really want to see in there.

Careful of crossing the street, french drivers aren't that giving to pedestrians or even to other motorists.

Learn a few french phrases like greetings (good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night, hello, goodbye, thank you, etc). Even other phrases like "Je m'appelle Ghosthunter" (my name is Ghosthunter) or "Il s'appelle Ghosthunter" or "Elle s'appelle Ghosthunter" (his name is Ghosthunter / her name is Ghosthunter) might come in handy. It might help to make the locals to be more polite if they feel that you are making an effort. Otherwise they might just end up being snobbish to you (basically you are "tourist trash" unless proven otherwise).

One phrase might be useful is "Vous parlez anglais?" (Can you speak English?)

BTW, no guarantees you can understand spoken french though because words tend to flow into the next one. It takes practice to understand spoken french, even the basic phrases. Good luck if you want to try this.

Try to be current and tasteful with your choice of clothing. Paris is one of the top centers of fashion and the locals, especially women, take it very seriously and spend serious money on it.
