Just saw this in fb feed.

    Daphne Osena Paez

I was talking to my family and they're all alarmed about ‪#‎laglagbala‬ ‪#‎tanimbala‬.

Then one of them said that last February, he got one bullet (flight to Singapore). He said the inspectors apologized once they found out he was a priest. He didn't know what it was about back then until these news stories came out.

Moral of the story: wear a priest or nun's costume.

    Wrong timing, Krizzy.

We understand Kris Aquino only wanted to share her happiness, but with the still unresolved “laglag bala” scam, it came out insensitive.

Her Instagram post commending the ground staff and flight crew of Philippines Airlines drew the ire of her followers, who adamantly reminded her of the current crisis in the airport named after her father.

It earned 519 comments, mostly from bashers who think she only got the preferential treatment because she was a celebrity and a presidential sister.

There were several who wondered out loud why celebrities never experience laglag bala, others who suggested for her to try flying low-key and experience the ordinary.

But a certain *Tanyadeltierro said it best: wrong timing lang kasi ang pag post mo *withlovekrisaquino nasa gitna kasi tayo ng usapin tungkol sa laglag bala.

Of course, Kris quickly followed it up with a photo of Olivia Pope, the lead character of US TV series Scandal, with the text “It’s handled.”

On the caption, Kris wrote a message saying she’s spoken with her brother, she loves her brother blah blah blah. “By tomorrow you can start looking for a new issue to bully me about.”

hindi naman binaggit ng mom ko nung tinanong siya since she still thinks na these people would still listen to proper reasoning. sa mga pinupuntahang bansa ni ermats eh tatawanan ka lang kapag .22 lang dala mo. besides, she always have her own security detail sa mga countries na assigned siya...

Me im not alarmed at laglag bala. Next year pa naman travel ko

And even if may biglaan travel, my bags are already all tsa-ready poly-carbonate delsey set. No pockets whatsoever . I use the smallest for hancarry and the other 2 depende kung gano kakhaba ang trip

    imageuploadedbytsikot-forums1446525305.822812.jpg

Why TSA, coz JFK and LAX appreciate it if you have you bags tsa-ready. It means you have nothing to hide

    imageuploadedbytsikot-forums1446525378.880062.jpg

My other handcarry is a leather messenger bag without pockets.

    imageuploadedbytsikot-forums1446525317.857674.jpg

Wag na kasi kayo magdala ng big gadgets when you travel like dslrs and laptops. So 2010

I bring with me 2 iphones and iPad. Why 2 iphone, one is backup camera and back battery na din

Wala na kwenta mag-digicam ngaun coz we are in the age of social media wherein so makaluma yun may sd card ka pa to collect photos and then upload sa facebook after your vacation. i rarely view friend's post thst way

The rule is take your pic kagad, upload it simultaneously kahit san ka pa na duon snd wag na wag kalimutan i-tag ang location feature.

In travel, you are onky allowed to upload 3 photos a day (max na yun 5). So you need instacollage if you have more than 5 photos. And the photo should be square, for easy viewing. And dapat sa instagram muna shared to facebook

The use of video is also encouraged but it must also be square format, with static captions above and below like a dvd movie with blsck bars or white bars, and it nust onky be 10se to 15 seconds long

    ---

So given all this, travel light. And di ka na mag-alala pa sa laglag bala coz you bring so many things that needs pockets.

OB,not sure what the connection is with the laglag bala incident and how photos should be posted and cropped when posting to IG and FB but I assume there is wisdom in what you are sharing.

Ganito kasi yan, most people would bring their digicam, videocam, notebook pc, along with it will be chargers, media cards, cases, usb flash drives at kung anu-ano pa. The more you carry the more need comparments sa bag so segregate these devices. Hence, the higher chances of pockets / sleeves for laglag bala

The question is why bring sll these? Because most travelers want to preserve memories hence they aim at 200 to 1000 photos everyday.

But we live in the age of so many picutures, or social media, so umay na tao.

If you carefully plan your photos, you'll realize that you only need a few great ones for maximum impact sa FB. If not, try to group em together in apps loke instscollage or flipagram anc still deliver that maximum explosure for your trip

Rimowa ba lahat ng luggage mo OB? Kuya ko pinapabili ako new luggage but I refuse to spend on luggage since I do not travel often anyway. Pero napapaisip ako dahil sa laglag bala.

Pero naisip ko rin pwede din luggage na sobrang luma at kawawa para isipin nila wala ka pambayad sa extortion.

I bought the delsey set sa tjmaxx US. It cost only like P5000 for the whole set,

If you rrally want the big names in luggage, padala ka sa johnny air cargo thru tjmaxx or walmart. If cannot, jist buy a cheap luggage set first, then pag nakahanap ka na abroad ng gusto mo, just leave na lang the old pocketed luggage sa hotel or sa bansa na pinuntahan mo

To understand how these people work, you need to profile them. Most people in the xray section are contractuals, i.e. Glorified mall security guards. They are backed by airport police to make this racket work. So totoo yun spotter or in case of a bank heist, yun tao na naka-motor sa kabila ng kalsada

The spotter profiles you. If you bring cheap luggage, pero ang porma mo, maalahas, dami colorete sa katawan, target ka na.

Others go to sirport dressed like it's their house. Naka shorts na naka-losyang machine washed shirt, tapos ang dami dala gadget, target ka na.

No wonder, many ofws are targeted coz they dont compose themselves.

    -_

Sa airport kase, treat it like you're going to an important event. Dont dress lousy but dont overdress either unless business trip. Try to find that blance, dont look too cheap and dont look too expensive either

The thing is alam nila may pera ang traveler regardless kung ano pa bsckgroud mo, mag-travel nga eh

I usually travel using my old offshore bag. Butas butas na. Ngayon medyo natatakot ako since I'll using a maleta. Havent used a maleta for a long time. I think outbound yung laglag bala but since I'm due for days off soon, ipapawrap ko na lang ang bag dito bago umuwi.

I think the syndicate (assuming there is one) would target outbound passengers as the fear of missing the flight would add pressure to the unfortunate target to pay the bribe.

Leni Robredo Files Measure vs ‘Tanim Bala’ Gang
    Posted on November 3, 2015

In an effort to eradicate the “Tanim Bala” scam hounding the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), a lawmaker has filed a measure to decriminalize the mere possession of not more than three bullets.

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, the vice presidential candidate of Liberal Party, filed House Bill 6245, otherwise known as Iwas Tanim Bala Bill, which aims to put an end to the Tanim Bala modus operandi, safeguarding passengers in NAIA from harassment and extortion.

A counterpart measure in the Senate has been filed by Sen. Bam Aquino.

i don't want to appear assuming but leni's people might have been following this thread. i posted this here some pages ago in reply to a fellow tsikoter's suggestion that the law should be amended:

"+agree. though there's nothing wrong with our laws outlawing possession of ammunitions (ginagamit din kasi yan ng mga masamang elemento, like the ASG, as IEDs), the problem lies with those criminals working in the NAIA preying on unsuspecting passengers.
to my mind, amendment shall be made only with respect to possession of ammunition of small arms fixing a certain number of ammos that an individual can lawfully carry. also, to be an effective deterrent, just like RA 9165 na death penalty yung penalty sa planting of evidence in drugs cases, gawing death penalty or life imprisonment yung nag plant ng ammos or FAs."
