End of an era? Sofitel Philippine Plaza reportedly shuttering Its doors next month

Is this because of the land reclamation? Hindi na seaside hotel si Sofitel.

Maraming hotel daw nagrereklamo sa reclamation. Di na magamit yung outdoor nila because of dust being blown around and the all the construction blocking the view.

    well,
i wasn't so thrilled in our last trip to spiral.
choices overload, and too many people, made it uncomfortable for me.

    also,
    at my age,
    hindi na sulit.

agree ako sa too many people.

pero yung "sulit" - matagal ko nang sinuko yan.
masaya na ako seeing everyone sa table ko eating what they want. something na super-sakit sa ulo right now na lumalaki ang family tree.

Hindi naman dapat sinusulit ang mga buffet. It should be a place where everyone in the group can eat what they want, unlike sa seat down restos na kung ano lang na-order, yung lang makakain.

Sofitel hotel is one of the oldest hotels na better maintained.

personally... since sa buffet lang ako di napipigilan ni misis mag dessert

Sofitel and Medley are the only 2 buffets dito sa Pinas where I can recommend their chocolates...

sa ibang buffet kasi, matamis lang. di naman lasang chocolate

I will have lasting memories of Sofitel, especially from proms, balls, and debuts.

As for Spiral, it started to deteriorate in the mid-2010's. IMHO, it was the best buffet in Manila in the 2000's.

Was able to get sponsored for an overnight stay there a couple of months ago & one more this week. Maybe kaya dun sponsor kasi mura na lang accommodation because they're closing na? Yeah medyo luma na nga, & the view of Manila Bay when you're at the pool or from your room, wala na, panay reclaimed area na.

Definitely the land reclamation had a major hand in their decision to close. They lost their famous Manila Bay view, in exchange for a bleak desert view.
