Long 4 day vacation for most, hopefully with the sun out...

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III has declared August 20, Monday, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid'l Fitr.

The Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of the month-long fasting of Muslims during the Ramadan, is a movable holiday based on the Islamic calendar.

"To promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of the Eid'l Fitr," Aquino said in Proclamation No. 455 he signed on Monday.

This means Filipinos can look forward to a long weekend as Aug. 21, Tuesday, is also a special non-working holiday to observe Ninoy Aquino Day.
