buy a plane ticket to ilocos and then rent a van or car with driver to get you to pagudpud.

8-1/2 hours drive. start early to avoid the traffic, like 3am or earlier.

nlex-sctex-turn right at sctex exit and follow the magilas trail to pozorubio, then rejoin macarthur hiway there. Or kung di mo alam ang magilas trail, then turn left to tarlac city and just follow the signs to join macarthur hiway to baguio. diretsuhin mo lang to la union - ilocos sur - ilocos norte. pag dating mo sa dulo ayun na pagudpod na.

when we made the trip we started out from QC at 3:30 am, got to Candon Ilocos Sur at 8am where we had breakfast (1 hour stop), then we reached blue lagoon in pagudpud at exactly 1 pm. so if you minus the 1 hour stop it will be 8-1/2 hours of driving.

better buy a philippine map from national book store if you do not know the way. or get a gps. di naman nakakaligaw, diretso lang naman ang daan walang liko EXCEPT FOR 1 CITY IN ILOCOS, forgot which one. muntik na ko maticketan ng pulis kasi pinasok ko one way e wala naman karatula. forgot which one it was. natatandaan ko lang may old church and dapat mag-left turn before the church.

    edit: san nicolas yata yun.

    Tips?
Started at 3am from Cavite. 2pm kami ni wifey dumating sa Vigan. Nag breakfast kami sa Jollibee Agoo. Nag MacDo kami sa Vigan then nag photo session sa Heritage plaza. Bumili ng langonisa at bibingka. Then bumalik sa La Union.

At least may back-up na sasakyan.

it took me 14hrs.... manila to pagudpod every 4hrs. ang stop over, with konting picture picture... nasa 30-45mins...

Also, it's very helpful to review the trip via Googlemaps before going out. If you have a smartphone with GPS and Android you can also run it while driving.

I drove up there before with only my map and wala naman naging problema.

8 1/2 hours of driving at yebo's pace, that is. Do leave room for a slower pace of travel.

My first and only time in Pagudpud was in the summer of 2002. It took us 18 hours to get from QC to that forgettable beach resort in Pagudpud. NLEX was being rehabilitated (4 hours from QC to Dau, grrr!), and no SCTEX yet. I'd let to go there now that the roads are much better.

kung galing ka ng manila, wala ka iba pinakamadaling daanan kung hindi via nlex-sctex-tarlac-pangasinan-la union-ilocos sur-then ilocos norte na...it's a long drive, probably 9-10 hrs...

tips? ensure your ride is in tip top shape, some call it pagod-pud as it is a long and and tiring drive, so tag along a talkative passenger

check google maps so you can have an idea of all the cities and towns you will pass by from tarlac to ilocos norte....

How long is the usual waiting time sir pag salubungan? Or is it slow moving lang on both directions pagdating sa mga bridge works? How long travel time mo to pagudpud from lets say balintawak toll plaza?

Not really long waiting time onthose construction areas. Maybe 5 minutes per stop.

Going to Aparri via Dalton pass, Isabela area, you will encounter the same problem. May mga bridge din na under construction. The biggest one will be the one before you reach the town before Santiago, i just forgot the town name. Also, a lot of unpabed roads along Ramon and nearby towns.
