    Palace declares Eid Al-Fitr holiday

MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) Malacañang has declared October 12 a non-working holiday to mark Eid Al-Fitr, the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye made the announcement in a text message to reporters Monday.

Eid’l Fitre marks the end of the 40 days of fasting for Muslims.
