pasalamat kayo sa mga taong ganyan...if not for them, we wouldn't be able to buy second hand flashy cars/suvs cheap :Dmazdamazda:IMO - it is their choice if they want to have a flashy car or gas guzzling SUVs.

Hey I'm glad you feel the same way I feel about this site.
If for some reason, you got offended with what I posted ,I'm sorry
but that's how I feel.No board member, not even moderators ever
told me that "Hey! if you don't agree with the thread starter's opinion,
then you are not allowed to post a comment".
I like this thread, and I will continue reading & posting whenever I want.
I don't care if some find them offensive because just like what you said,
everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I think I have the right to
excercise my freedom of speech too.
Now if you really don't appreciate the way I write ,feel free to add me
to your "ignore list" ..it's missZ..that way you wouldn't have to waste
your time reading my posts.
Geeezzz ! I never thought there are a lot of sensitive flowers here .
nothing's more therapeutic & healing than buying/getting something new hehehe
Although your observation is correct, that may not hold through if you are able to observe american lifestyle for an extended period of time. From what I have seen after living in the States for sometime, americans are the ones na walang arte at mas practical. I have seen collegues from the hospital still driving their 7-10 yr-old cars since they are still paying their college loans, have mortgage payments to make and with kids to support.Originally Posted by Tacoma_34

For my first few years, I have not driven luxury/expensive cars kasi impractical. Other than mahal na siya to buy to start with, mas mahal pa ang insurance premium. But of course, if nakaka-afford ka, why not enjoy it, di ba?! It is your money anyway!
Meron sigurong mga americans who are living beyond their means but that is not the picture of the general population.
i agree with you, but there are some regions (california as a very prominent example) where this living-beyond-your-means lifestyle is extremely noticable and prevalentOriginally Posted by cyberdoc95

sa totoo lang bro, mas grabe sa Cali. sa Florida, people are ostentatious but not necessarily living beyond their means. napakayabang ng mga tao dito but they seem to be able to afford their kayabangan. baka puro home equity loans sila, ewan ko lang.Originally Posted by silverbx986

it's funny you should use that example. when i lived in socal our pizza delivery guy was an Iranian guy with a late model Jaguar XJ. nakakwentuhan ko and he actually comes from a rich family - the car was a gift from dad, fully paid - but he wanted to get a job to be independent and learn how to earn a living on his own, even though the only thing he was qualified for at the time was to deliver pizzas. admirable, i think.Originally Posted by Tacoma_34
that was a lesson to me to not judge by mere appearances. that jag sure looked funny with the big "delivery" sign on the roof though.
i agree that people in the US seem to be less concerned with saving and more concerned with "the pursuit of happiness"...but i guess that's part of living in a wealthy country where there are a lot of financial safety nets.
