I am looking for a replacement of my old luggage and have been frequenting luggage boutiques lately.

While it may be of personal preference, what is your trusted luggage brand?

Also, is it better if I buy it abroad (HK/SG) or buy local if price difference is insignificant?

    Salamat!

Canada is a lot cheaper. A Samsonite Cosmolite costs USD600.00 in the US, CAD600.00 in Canada. The difference in the exchange rate will save you a lot. That is if you have a way of buying from Canada.

Delsey is a good choice. Rimowa if budget is not an issue.

    Rimowa is expensive.

Thinking of getting Samsonite in HK, but keeping my options open.

The aluminum Xiaomi smart luggage is almost as good as Rimowa.

Yes, I typed XIAOMI. No, this isn't a joke.

Sometimes the baggage handlers get tired, some don't care about how much you paid for your luggage. They'd rather save their backs than someone else's luggage. Bags are usually tossed around specially out of the passenger's view.

When I travel to Manila, I sometimes bring tools, materials and other stuff. Knowing how bags are handled, I use cartonite. When I get to the destination I collapse it for future use or rip it apart.

some time ago, there was this scare of tanim-bala,
some travelers actually wrapped tape and clingwrap around their maletas...
and someone actually offered this service, for a fee...

go for the ones with the heavy or double zipper. hindi siya mabubuksan agad pag tinusok ng matulis na bagay like ballpen. i prefer the Delsey brand.

So sorry if there's existing thread.

I will be adding check-in baggage going back probably since Im going to buy in HK. How I wish I could have thought this early on..

Heard about that sale in Binondo for the luggage? I've got several hits when I tried to search online. Does it seem to be good to be true if the prices cheaper or are they selling like class a or something fake?
