ang sarap talaga mag drive pag walang traffic..i'd like to try that once, getting a trip to bAguio in less than 3 hrs..pero hoplefully talaga in a few years ma-extend na talaga ung nlex para mas safe na talaga bumiyahe..
I don't doubt that he can do it... my travel time from home-to-work has already been drastically reduced by the various schemes implemented by the MMDA along EDSA.

Fernando: I can cut Manila-Baguio travel time
The Philippine Star
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando said Tuesday he can reduce the travel time from Manila to Baguio and vice versa — from eight to three hours.
Fernando, who graced the Texas Instruments, Inc. (TI) leadership workshop, said he can reduce the travel time from Manila to Baguio “if only McArthur Highway, Manila North Road, and other laterals connecting both roads, are cleared of makeshift shanties of illegal vendors, squatters and other illegal structures.”
He said motoring to Baguio City from Metro Manila on conventional roads, instead of the much traveled expressway route, takes more than six to eight hours due to poor road conditions.
“We can do this if subsequent traffic engineering initiatives were also put in place. Motorists can weave through traffic safely and effortlessly at 80 kilometers per hour to and from Baguio City for only three to four hours instead of the prolonged travel time,” Fernando said.
He conducted a two-day planning session with his staff on the MMDA’s pending and future Metro Gwapo physical change and social reorientation projects.
Fernando said he intends to extend the MMDA’s traffic management authority to the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Pangasinan to help solve the traffic gridlock in these areas.
“The MMDA will initially assess the traffic conditions in the four provinces where motorists traverse going to and from Baguio City and come up with traffic improvement studies and strategies to be submitted to President Arroyo for approval,” Fernando said.
Fernando said Baguio farmers and traders will improve their earning capacity once the roads in these provinces were cleared of all forms of obstructions.
He said MMDA traffic experts will give their counterparts in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Pangasinan a week-long orientation and training on how to rationalize the use of thoroughfares, traffic enforcement operations and installation of traffic fixtures and signages, among other things.
Fernando said the MMDA has recently extended its traffic management duties to roads leading to Bacoor, Cavite and Laguna as an offshoot of President Arroyo’s directive to help solve traffic problems in these provinces.
He said Tanauan City in Batangas, Obando in Bulacan and Rosales in Pangasinan will follow suit. Jose Rodel Clapano
hmmm nagawa namin dati manila to la union in 4hrs pero madaling-araw.
around 250 kms ata manila to baguio, so 250 kms/ 80km/hr = 3.125 hrs. so i guess you have to be traveling at least 80kms/hr to reach baguio. 80kms going up kennon or aspiras highway?
I just hope it will not be likened to the same colors he implemented with the blue and pink infrastructure! Abot ka nga ng Baguio in no time pero sira mata mo![]()
I frequently travel at that speed. The only troubles are the long, uphill, and sharp curves and the occasional (but frequent really) fog that envelopes the mountains. But I doubt if that speed would be possible at Kennon road (at the lower portion just right after rosario-sison junction puwede pa siguro)..
3.5 hrs from baguio to manila is achievable in certain conditions. Tama nga yung suggestions ng ibang tsikoteers dito-make the main provincial roads of Tarlac, Pangasinan, Pampanga free of tricycles (and kuligligs)-tough job pero kung may political at road will tulad ni Bayani ang mga local govt officials natin, kaya yan.
Sana matulungan natin si bayani dito..it would be a great help not only to the people of Baguio but also to those provinces up North.![]()
That's good news.
Actually kaya.
Pero alis namin sa Manila 3:00am....dating namin doon, usually 6-6:30am.
Coming back to Manila is another story. Dapat alis namin doon, 12-1am. Dating sa Manila about 4am.
Tricycles are one of the main source of traffic jam sa North Luzon hi-ways specially on the following areas:
Lusita Mall to Tarlac City (Hi way area), Brgya Carmen in Rosales Pangasinan Intersection, Villasis Pangasinan (Hi way area), Urdaneta City (From Brgy Nancayasan up to are of LIS Resort), and From Posorubio Pangasinan to Sison Pangasinan hiway (Dapat clear yang hiway na yan sa tricycles).![]()
I have driven the Manila-Baguio route in under 8 hours.
Manila-Baguio 5 hours (departed manila at 5am)
Baguio-Manila 4 hours (departed baguio at 11am)
One of the major choke points is Urdaneta. Currently the road works are the major cause of traffic. Then the other is the area around Luisita Mall.
