Some people driving diesels (trucks, or vans) start at 2nd gear. Meaning from 0kph, 2nd gear agad. Di ginagamit ang 1st gear. Usually mga drivers do this. Is it a good thing? Why?

Our drivers for our Isuzu Elf used to practice this often. Their reason? Mas smoother daw ang launch.
Currently I forbid them from doing so because I think it is quite obvious that it puts unnecessary strain on the transmission and engine.
HTH.
Mostly diesel drivers do this coz their engines are torquey enough to launch it. Plus it "saves" them one gear to shift to and from. But yeah, it does put unnecessary strain on the tranny and engine. First gear's there for a reason.
sa mga trucks 1st gear is usually only used when loaded ang vehicle. it geared high enough so that it would not strain the clutch and the engine. pag walang load 2nd gear ok lang.
I prefer starting in 1st gear.
Nabababad paa ko sa clutch tuwing nag uumpisa sa 2nd gear, kasi medyo matagal timplahin. Mas matindi rin ang engine vibration pag 2nd gear agad.
