hi, guys. . .my 96 lancer glxi has started giving transmission problem symptoms and my mechanic at the casa has suggested na ibaba na ang tranny which will cost a lot of money, not apt for the present value of the car. . .

one good option will be buying a surplus automatic transmission. . .me maisa-suggest ba kayo na reliable supplier (sila na rin ang magkakabit with warranty) pwede kong puntahan?. . . preferrably dito sa metro as i live in quezon city. . .

also, i haven't done this before kaya kung me mga hepful tips kayo jan, esp from the people na naka-experience na. . .i would really appreciate it. . .

    maraming salamat. . .

It's almost a hit and miss kind of thing. Best to have a trusted shop do the actual tranny swap for you. It's also possible for the shop to get some sort of warranty on the tranny so if you experience some problems with the replaced tranny, it would be less of a headache.

I've had my automatic tranny replaced. My car is a Corolla. The shop who did the tranny swap went through three transmissions before they got one that worked fine. Sometimes its a matter of electronics because one of the trannys that didn't work was because it was not compatible to my existing tranny control box.

bring it to a shop and let them be the one to source the tranny for you, for reasons stated by GH. try speedyfix

yeah, my mechanic at mitsubishi also advised taking the auto to a shop that is capable of doing the tranny swap. . .mga magkano ba magagastos ko for a tranny swap, labor, etc

also, ano ang mga things to pay attention to when going thru such a process. . .help naman mga repapips. . .

installing the tranny is easy... it's finding one in good working condition that is the tough part.

    thanks, guys. . .
my problem, specifically, is minsan (madalang pa naman) pag apak ko sa gas to increase speed e hindi nage-engage. . .just the engine sound as if naka-neutral. . .release ko sya, then apak ulit, then okay na. . .sometimes it doesn't work the first time, release ulit then apak ulit sa gas pedal. . .hindi sya nangyayari pag diretso ang apak ko sa gas. . .naka ECO mode ako all the time so hindi ko pa nasubukan if it happens sa POWER mode, too, or if it's relevant to do so. . .i haven't experienced it sa low D2 gear (although pag akyat lang sa parking ko lang nagagamit ang D2. . . )

like i said, it seldom happens (twice a week). . .so seldom that when i took it to the casa and let the mechanic drive it for him to experience it e hindi nya naramdaman. . .but, anyway, he hinted that it is a tranny problem. . .not the atf since kapapalit ko lang ng atf. . .
his advice was to keep the OD off all the time since it only happens in high gears. . .obserbahan ko raw and mag-ipon na for a surplus tranny since i told him na i won't have it fixed sa mitsubishi casa for a cost so impractical considering the present value of my 96 lancer glxi. . .

i would really appreciate your reply. . .maraming salamat. . .

    peace of christ

    Check ATF level:

    1. Engine on and warm (preferably after a few mins driving).
    2. Tranny in Neutral.
    3. Check dipstick. Fluid level must reach H (hot).

Same problem din sa Lancer ko. Mas malala yun kasi bumibitaw ang tranny when cornering, braking and climbing. Basta di level ang oto nagrereklamo sya. Had my mechanic refill the ATF to the correct level and ok uli.

I forgot which shops i inquired. sorry.
