If I had it my way I would get a 'matic.
*Mas mahirap sirain - natatanggal na kasi ang driver error. Unless you do something really stupid like drive it fast while not in "D" (e.g. in 2 or 1).
*More water resistant than manuals - you may have to extend the breather hose and a/t dipstick, but it does have less points for water entry compared to your usual manual tranny
*Mas hindi nakakapagod - pagod na ko kaka-shift. hehehehe.
*They 'seem' more reliable - mas madalas pang mangailangan ng service ang manual transmissions namin dito kaysa ang mga automatics. And 1987 at 1981 pa yung dalawa naming 'matic.

Matic for me......deterrent pa yan sa carnapper! Engot daw ang mga carnapper sa matic eh!
and one more thing di nakakapagod mag drive especially sa metro mla.

simula ng gumamit ako ng automatic kung maaari ayaw ko ng gumamit ng manual. saka mas d ka pagod lalo na dito trapik.
Hmmm. I used to be a manual guy, but all my cars are now AT equipped. Wala lang, Im willing to sacrifice acceleration in favor of comfort. wiith all the traffic around...
if you're more of a race car driver... tipong laging gusto karera sa kalsada... manual... better hatak than that of matic. hehehe! but if tamad ka magdrive... shifting... clutch-brake-gas... matic ka na... less pagod, less hassle. pero with the traffic all over metro, i'd rather commute... sarap matulog sa bus o kaya mrt! =)
karera sa kalsada ba sabi mo chengkie? e sa trapik sa metro manila, mas lamang ka pag matic. alam mo bakit, singitan tayo tignan mo sino una makaka-singit, yun matic ba o yung manual? e tumatapak pa lang sa clutch yung naka-manual yung matic naka-abante na kasi release lang ng brakes gagawin nya. so sino mauna sumingit syempre yung matic.
isa pa, kung karera lang naman sa edsa ang karera, lamang pa din matic. tapak pa lang sa clutch para mag-down shift ang manual naka arankada na ang matic. press down sa accelerator lang ang gagawin mo sa matic downshifted na. nasa driver yan kung di takot gamitin ang matic tranny nila.
lamang ang matic sa trapik sa manila pre! matic na kunin mo! gitgitan, singitan, karera sa edsa lamang ang matic.

Its not an issue if the car is well maintainedBut yes, hindi nga pwed e push start sa matic.

- gas mileage is better. for the mazda 323, the difference is about 2km/L.
- overtaking is easier. just downshift if you need the extra oomph. with the matic, you have to really know your car to overtake safely.
- brake pad longevity.
- performance. the overall performance of manuals is better than that of the matic as less power is being drained by the tranny and it weighs a bit lighter.
but if we are talking about the CVT, it is a different ballgame.
the best solution is get a matic for everyday driving then get another tsikot with a manual for drag if you're into dragracing and mod it to kingdom come!

Use to be a Manual guy pero sa tindi ng traffic dito we just have to be realistic.
Before kasi konti lang nagbebenta ng matic pero now kaliwa kanan puro Matic na makikita mo.
Pero pag nasira matic bye bye Tranny. hirap kasi ayusin yun mga new generation matic. (pero tulad ng sabi ni OTEP hirap sirain yun matic unless intentional)

AT vs MT (power at the wheels)
AT usually have 5 to 10 HP less at the wheels as compared to MT.
dati ang mga tao ayaw ng matic coz d daw reliable..and masmadali masira, but now sa mga sagot nyo baliktad na talaga. hehe until today i was still thinking na puro pa rin manual ang mga cars dito hehe...
btw.. ang ayaw ko lang sa matic is overtaking. and nakakaantok mag drive walang thrill... ndi naman laging traffic sa metro manila.. hehe and minsan lumalau din naman tau dito.manual pa rin
