Hi i'm not an expert on A/T coz i'm also a newbi. But here something i can share with you. D4 is always use if you drive only * city limits and highway, while D3 is use if you are climbing on a mountain terrain area contniously. While 2 is being use if you tow another car or slippery road during heavy rain on a muddy area. When you park your car, always put the transmission stick on a P-position and every time you change the stick position you deep step the brake while shifting from one postion to the other smoothly. Hope this will help you understand a little bout automatic transmission.

D4 -> transmission gets to use all 4 gears
D3 -> transmission gets to use the first 3 gears
D2 -> transmission gets to use the first 2 gears.
Basically, ni lolockout lng nito ang mga gears. This helps prevent gear hunting.
Gear hunting is when the transmission can't decide what gear it wants to be in, too high a gear, no power, tranny shifts down 1 gear, too then u accelerate, then when it shifts to a higher gear, no power again, so tranny shifts down again. So what you do is lock out the higher gear, para magpirmi sya sa lower gear. Hope na gets mo. :D

    Hi

D3 can be used for stop and go situations such as traffic hindi yung gapang. Use it for sitations ung stop then biglang andar then stop again. Can be also used for climbing and down hill.

Just do not shift from N to D vice versa when moving others do it that is why I see many transmission problems here. Always full stop when moving from R to D vice versa especially pag nag maneobra kasi hindi mapigilan kung nag mamadali.

Check the ATF regularly and have it changed kung dark na or amoy sunog. Regularly at least once a month. For civics may tendency lumuwag ang dip stick and can fall down so make sure you put it in correctly also it is located way below so if it is a little loose water can go inside.

Just to shate Civics have good transmissions and toyota for City 98 model for me has the worse transmission talaga.

    There's no "D2". It's 1, 2, D3, and D4 on older Civics, and 1,2, D3, and D for the 5-speed A/T Civic.

For 1 and 2, the gear is locked on the respective gear and does not shift up nor down.

A/T transmission question..
